| This is
the diary section, where at least once a month i'll be updating my
thoughts and other fans thoughts of the past games and club issues,
such as Corbo's Hair, where did it go??? and John Dennis' plums???
Nobody spesh, i've been Barnsley Fan all of my years
and seeing as i am a web site designer I thought I'd contribute
even more support by doing this. If you like this site then TA!!
Unfortunately, i'm gonna miss the start of the season
for 2 reasons:
1) i'm gonna be lovin it lovin it lovin it,
in Ayia Napa for 2 weeks, thus missin the Bradford game (DAMN!!!),
then
2) i'm going to me mates weddin on the first home game (ARSE!!!)
So whats been happening pre-season??? Find out below,
in the all new comic strip.....

The general feeling from fans at the moment is pretty optimistic,
apart from the minority who moan and moan about John Dennis' running
of the club and how they think he has no ambition etc. Which for
me I can't really understand the mentallity of. JD has to be praised
on the signing of Nigel Spackman, I don't think people realise what
a quality manager and person we have in him. He's the best manager
we've had since Danny Wilson, and in my view, will propel us into
the Premiership in even better style than Danny did. Ok it may take
a couple of seasons or so, but what with the new state of the art
facilities we have, new sponsors, signings and the general haul
out of staff since Nigel took over then anyone who doesn't see this
club prospering must be either blind or plain daft.
OK, we are not rolling in money, but I believe this
to be a good thing. Look at a team like Crystal Palace, over the
past 5 years, they have had as much success if not even less, than
Barnsley, and last year saw them nearly get relegated and were in
debt bigtime. Sheff Wednesday are another team gone down the panner
a Big Club in deep shit really.
Take Dean Gorres quote about Huddersfield Town for example:
'It was only a few years ago that Barnsley were
in the Premiership and I can tell you that everything at the club
is geared up for a return. The facilities are first class. We have
a swimming pool and a state-of-the-art gym and the club seems keen
to embrace new ideas and techniques. It is such a change from being
at Huddersfield.
At Huddersfield the philosophy seemed to be just spend money
on players and don't worry about the off-the-field structure of
the club. This seems to be shared by a lot of clubs in the First
Division and it is wrong.
Clubs need to look at every aspect of the way they are run,
and if they want to get into the Premiership, they need to act like
one. After Huddersfield replaced Steve Bruce they were never going
anywhere. Although we had a lot of talented players, the off-the-field
structure just wasn't there. At Barnsley it is.' (copyright

I can't help but share his optimism. Lets hope his positiveness
rubs off on the pitch.
Also, read this weird quote about his love for soup:
'My earliest memory of getting seriously
involved in football is when I was 12. That's when I took the decision
to become a professional footballer and it was a bowl of soup that
helped me make that decision, actually. Let me explain. I went to
SVV in Holland and took a look at their training facilities. A friend
of mine was already at the club and hed told me that each
day, after training, they got soup. I thought, Oh, we don't
get soup where I play, maybe I should go there. I went to
a trial and I was the only one picked. I didnt want to go
because I was only 12 and I lived so far away, I would have had
to get a bus. I thought, "No, I'll stay with my friends.'

This guys on marajuana for sure. Well he is from Holland spose.
What with Rotherham Utd promoted now, I thought what
better time to monitor the teams from South Yorkshire' derbies,
and produce a mini league table.

And then we'll know truly who the best team in South
Yorkshire is....but we already know that don't we???
Anyways, all the best to BFC in the new season, and
let's hope it a good one!!!
