 Martin Ellacott (goalkeeper) date of birth 5/1/70 Former professional at Torquay United, spent several seasons at Ton Pentre winning Welsh League championship honours and playing four games in Intertoto Cup before joining Inter Cardiff and playing in UEFA Cup against Glasgow Celtic. Lives in Pontypridd and transferred from Bridgend Town in November 2000. Arguably best keeper in the Welsh League and assistant manager to Brian Gibson.

 Ceri Williams (right back/wing back) 2/10/77 Former Wales schoolboy international, very fit and strong and can also play in midfield if required. Rhondda boy who also joined Ponty from Bridgend Town in November 2000.

 Ryan Luker (left back/wing back) 7/6/76 Quick and skillful player who loves to get forward. Another Rhondda born player who transferred from Ton Pentre in November 2000.

 Andrew Humphries (central defence) 23/11/68 Starred for Ponty in Division One in early 90’s before work commitments restricted his availability and he dropped down to Carnetown in S.W. Amateur League. Local boy who rejoined Ponty in July 2000.

 Neil Daniels (defence) 28/2/71 Hard working player who always gives 100% committment and can slot in anywhere in defence. Local boy who is good in the air and joined Pontypridd Town from Taff’s Well in September 1999. Voted player of the year by his team mates last season. 

 Ross Lloyd  (defence) 31/5/82 Product of Town’s youth set up, thrust into Welsh League action as a 16 year old in 1998 and has retained his place ever since. Local boy and son of former manager Roger Lloyd, Ross is tall, strong and at ease anywhere in defence or midfield and has had trials at several League clubs.

 Garfield Leask (central defence) 9/8/66 Llantwit Major based player who rejoined Ponty in November 2000 after leaving in 1994 to join Barry Town. Cool, calm and cultured defender who likes to play his way out of trouble, former semi-professional player in Swedish first division.

 Adrian James (central midfield) 23/3/70 Aberdare born player who now lives locally and is Ponty’s Mr. Reliable. The longest serving player having been with the club for around  ten years and is always totally committed on and off the field. Club captain under a succession of different managers and has also helped run the team in between managers.

 Stacy Fulker (central midfield) 2/11/71 Former centre forward at Taff’s Well who changed position on joining Ponty in July 1999. Another local boy who is excellent in the air and specialises in goals from at least 30 yards out.

 Martin Thomas (midfield) 22/10/69 Hard working and committed local player who first joined Ponty at the end of 1995/96 from Hopkinstown. Returned to his former club after 18 months but rejoined Ponty in August 2000.

 James Ryan (midfield) 27/1/81 Strong running and highly skillful player who made an immediate impact as a raw 17 year old in 1998. Scores lots of goals from midfield and can play anywhere if required. An outstanding local prospect who has added consistency to his many skills this season.

 Chris Roberts (midfield) 2/12/69 Strong English born player who has moved around due to his work but now based in Cardiff and signed for Ponty in November 2000. Played against Ponty when we knocked League of Wales side Cemaes Bay out of Welsh Cup in 1996.

 Brian Gibson (forward) 25/12/61 Probably the best footballer of his generation in the Pontypridd area. Had a distinguished playing career with local side Rhydyfelin, then Ynysybwl, Ferndale and Ton Pentre in the Welsh League before helping Ton Pentre to third place in the League of Wales in 1993/4 and 1994/5, scoring the 82nd minute penalty which gave Ton a 3-2 win at Ebbw Vale in the last game of the 1994/5 season to clinch a place in the Intertoto Cup. Played in all four Intertoto Cup games then transferred to Inter Cardiff for 1997/8 season for whom he played against his favourite team Glasgow Celtic in front of 45,000 fans at Parkhead. Had his first taste of management as player/manager of Carnetown in S. W. Amateur League, guiding them to promotion in 1999/2000, before returning to his family at home town club Rhydyfelin at the start of this season. Answered an S. O. S. call from Ponty and was appointed player/manager at the end of October 2000.                                                                                                                                                                                        

 Darryl Phillips (forward) 25/12/81 Local player who was a wing back in Cardiff City’s all conquering youth team of 1999/2000, but was released by the Bluebirds at the end of that season. A very fast, skillful player with an eye for goal who joined Ponty from Taff’s Well in September 2000. 

 Kevin Logan (right midfield) 10/9/81 Student from Belfast studying at Pontypridd’s university. Skillful player with a lovely touch who was Northern Ireland schoolboy international and joined Ponty in October 2000.

 Christian Holland (forward) 10/1/81 Local boy who joined Ponty in August 2000 on his return home from coaching in America. Has been unable to hold down a regular place this season and transferred to Taff’s Well in December.  

 Paul Williams (forward) 22/5/82 Lively striker who scored 60 goals at local league level in 1999/2000. Local boy who joined Ponty in February 2000 but has had difficulty breaking into the Welsh League side this season.

 Tony Wheeler (defence) 30/3/63 Cardiff born vastly experienced Welsh League player who spent many years with Cardiff Corinthians. A great club man who has been a huge asset to Ponty in recent seasons but moved to Lisvane when he lost his place in the first team in November 2000.

 Lee Anthony (midfield/forward) 30/7/77 Signed from local league side Cilfynydd in August 2000 but left Ponty after losing his place in the team in November 2000.

 Ceri Evans (goalkeeper) 20/10/71 Excellent shot stopper who joined Ponty in 1998/9 from Hopkinstown but left after losing his place in October 2000.

 Tony Hughes (forward) 1/2/72  Enthusiastic and fit front runner who filled in when players were on holiday at the start of the season.

 John Rhydderch (full back) 1/12/64 Cardiff born player who joined Ponty in August but never established himself in the team. Left for Lisvane in November 2000.

 Andrew Earls (centre forward) 26/7/66 Towering Cardiff born target man who joined Ponty in 1998/9. A good finisher who missed whole of 1999/2000 through injury and hit three goals in three games before another injury wrecked this season.

 Marc King (utility player) 3/8/74 A skillful Cardiff born player who suffered by playing in almost every position for Ponty. Joined in 1998/9 and was top scorer in 1999/2000 usually playing in midfield. Left for Lisvane in November 2000 after feeling frustrated at being a regular substitute.

 Lee Rudall (goalkeeper) 19/9/81 Pontypridd born former Hereford United reserve who won his place from Ceri Evans but then lost it when new manager Brian Gibson brought in Martin Ellacott as his assistant. Joined in August on his release from Hereford but left in December.

 Andrew Winston (defence/midfield) 26/11/74 Powerful Cardiff born player who joined Ponty in August but failed to establish himself in the team. Joined Lisvane in September.

 Rhys Williams (right back) 11/12/83  Local born product of Ponty’s youth team who made his debut in August.

 Rhodri Preedy (goalkeeper) 17/11/81 Local former youth team player who helped out when players were on holiday at the start of the season.

 Scott Rudall (centre half) 19/9/81 Twin brother of goalkeeper Lee who helped out when players were on holiday at the start of the season.

 Jason Parry (midfield) 7/1/72 Experienced Taff Ely League player who helped out when players were on holiday at the start of the season.

 David Goldsworthy (forward) 4/7/83 Bridgend born but another product of the youth set up. League debut last season and provided cover at the start of this season.

 Howie Beynon (forward) 17/4/59 Caerphilly based supporters favourite who has been a stalwart for Ponty over many years. Now playing local league football for Rhydyfelin but helped out in an early season player shortage.

 Matthew Smith (defence) 14/6/81 Local former youth team player who helped out when players were on holiday at the start of the season. Now plays local league football.

 Mark Evans (midfield) 23/11/71 Superb Caerphilly based player loaned to Ponty from League of Wales side Cwmbran Town for game at Abercynon in December.

 Gavin Evans (forward) 16/3/81 Local former Pontypridd Town youth team player now at Rhydyfelin, “borrowed” for game at Abercynon in December.

 James Williams (midfield) 27/2/82 Talented former youth team player who would probably be a regular if he wasn’t such a good golfer! Instead this Ponty boy travels around Europe winning tournaments and representing his country, and occasionally plays football if we are short of players.

 Mark Davies (forward) 12/1/67 Abercynon based player who helped us over an injury crisis in January.

 Seth Frelford (midfield) 4/8/77 Talented footballer who first played for Ponty five years ago but drifted into local league soccer. Local boy who hasn’t lived up to his potential yet but could flourish under Brian Gibson after re-joining Ponty in January.
