First-team returns are at stake as Alan Shearer and Carl Cort make their long-awaited Newcastle comebacks today in a behind-closed-doors match.
Both strikers will feature as The Magpies' first team take on the reserves at their training ground in a practice game specially arranged to gauge the duo's fitness.
Shearer and Cort are back in full training and there is every chance that if they emerge unscathed from today's game, they will both feature in the Tyne-Wear derby against Sunderland on August 26.

England U21 4 HOLLAND U21 0

This was a brilliant victory for England and this game was David Platts 1st, for the U21's. The first goal was marvellous, Darius Vassell smashed a beautiful 25yrd strike to give his team the lead. The only player trying to cause havoc for Holland was Andy Van Der Myde. He put in some dangerous balls into the box which the strikers could not take into there stride. Later on in the match Vassell had to come off after a hidious tackle from Ajax midfielder Cedrik Van Der Gunn. He was extremely lucky not to get booked. His replacement Jermaine DeFoe made a massive impact scoring after 5 seconds. A hooked ball into the far right post by Sean Davis was greatly scored by DeFoe. 10 minutes later a through ball from Prutton put Malcolm Christie through ,he then took the ball into his stride and skinned Sergi Van Den Ban rotton the Holland Goalkeeper. The last goal was taken by DeFoe, Prutton once again released him through and he only had the goalie to beat.4-0.The final score. In my opinion this was a great result and it shows that England have some great youngsters. There next game will be against Germany at the Olypic Stadium,HOME of 1860 Munnichen and Bayern.

CRYSTAL PALACE have handed former Welsh international striker Dean Saunders the opportunity to train with them for a few days before he decides on whether or not to make a permanent move to Selhurst Park.Meanwhile, defender Tony Popovic looks certain to be granted a work permit.

This is the starting line-up for England tonight.
Martin,Ashley Cole,Southgate,Ehioug,Neville,Barmby,

MARCELO SALAS has confirmed that Juventus have reopened talks with Lazio in a bid to take the Chilean striker to Stadio Delle Alpi.
"Yes, Lazio and Juventus are talking," said Salas. "I am happy in Rome but I do not have a problem wearing the Bianconeri shirt."
"A change of air can be good," added the 26-year-old.It is believed that a player-plus-cash deal is likely to be thrashed out before the weekend with Mark Iuliano moving to Lazio as part of the deal.

Arsenal have told Fulham that striker Nwanko Kanu is not for sale. The ex Inter Milan star is being linked with a move to Craven Cottage but Arsenal have rejected claims.

Blackburn striker Nathen Blake has promiced the fans that he will bag in the goals next season. In my opinion I feel he is a good striker who lacks confidence, I feel Corrado Grabbi might be a star.He has bags of potencial.

JAAP Stam has claimed in his book that Michael Owen is NO STAR. He said that Owen is not a wonderkid and that the English Media over exaggerate.

Bolton boss Sam Allardyce has earmarked the Euro 96 winner as the man to lead his strikeforce as his side embark on their first season back in the top flight.

Chicago Fire's US international striker Josh Wolff has spoken about his future, pointing to Europe as the option he would like to pursue.
Wolff, despite currently being injured, has a key role to play for the States next year, with their qualification all but assured to the 2002 World Cup finals. He has claimed that he would love a move to Liverpool.

Hibernian have signed Watford reject Allan Smart in a three-month loan deal and the player is set to face Rangers at Ibrox on Saturday.
Smart's departure continues the exodus of players from Graham Taylor's squad since Gianluca Vialli's arrival at Vicarage Road in the summer.
Perth-born striker Smart pulled out of a permanent move to Easter Road in the summer after a last-minute hitch over personal terms but, after failing to find another club, he will welcome a move back into first-team football.
Smart is likely to be pitched into action at Ibrox as Hibs boss Alex McLeish is reluctant to go with the inexperienced Tam McManus, despite his goal last Saturday against Aberdeen.

Aston Villa star Paul Merson fears that the English game could go the same way as Scotland, with a couple of teams dominating year after year.
With four days to go before the Premiership kick-off the former England international has already written off the title battle as a two-horse race.

Republic boss Mick McCarthy says he would have no worries pairing Damien Duff with Robbie Keane up front for the World Cup clash with Holland.
Blackburn winger Duff will partner Leeds United's Keane in the absence of the injured Niall Quinn in the Republic of Ireland's warm-up game against Croatia at Lansdowne Road tonight.

Bosko Balaban will have to wait to rubber-stamp his move to Aston Villa, as the Home Office is set to reject his application for a work permit.

Ipswich boss George Burley is confident Finidi George's move from Mallorca will be completed in time for him to face Sunderland on Saturday.

RAW RESULTS CONFIRMED BY RAJAHWWF.COM

The Raw Video rolls and the pyros explode as we are LIVE from an electric Chicago for the last RAW before SummerSlam!

Alliance Interview
-"Bodies" hits and the ECWCW Alliance comes down and surround the ring. Stone Cold's music hits and the WWF Champion comes into the ring, holding his belt and a clipboard. Under Austin's leadership, every man around the ring has a chance to become as famous as he is. He can't promise it will happen to them all, but they have the opportunity. Ever since Stone Cold joined the Alliance, he's led by example. Anyone can come out and flap their gums, but it takes a man to take charge. He didn't have to wait until SummerSlam to beat Kurt Angle. No, he led by example last Thursday night. Austin rolls clips of giving Kurt the Stunner and then snapping his ankle in a chair. Look at these guys around the ring, flying the ECW and WCW colors. Tommy Dreamer even has an Austin 3:16 shirt. But enough about Austin. Who is going to be the next to become as famous as Stone Cold? Who is going to stand up tonight and take on an already softened Kurt Angle? Paul Heyman stands up on the announce table and chants "RVD! RVD!". Rob Van Dam takes the initiative and leaps onto the apron. Tonight, RVD has the chance to step up and beat the hell out of Kurt Angle. Last Thursday, Stone Cold gave a speech to the troops about leading the charge. Some of them took it to heart. Congratulations to DDP and Kanyon for becoming the WWF Tag Champs. Congratulations to Test on becoming the newest member of the Alliance. Congratulations to Rhyno on Goring Y2J straight to the depths of hell. But all good things must come to an end. There were certain individuals who didn't respond to Stone Cold's words. It is because of this that LIVE on SmackDown, he will hold the first Stone Cold Steve Austin Invitational. He will teach the basics and fundamentals that some of them are lacking. Speaking of lacking, he calls attention to Taz, Raven, and Hugh Morris. Before he gets to these three, how dare Tommy Dreamer wear an Austin shirt when he hasn't even had a damned match? How about he grow a backbone. He goes to Morris and asks who whipped his ass last Thursday. It was Y2J. Austin starts mocking Morris and calls him pathetic. He goes to Raven and asks who whipped his ass last Thursday. It was Perry Saturn. He lost to a guy who carries a mop? Austin mocks Raven and says "You suck, quote Stone Cold nevermore". And this brings us to Taz. At least these other two went down fighting. At least they actually fought. But what did Taz do, oh suplex-master? Austin rolls tape of Taz watching on while Shane got Rock Bottomed through the announce table. Their boss got the smack laid down on him. Taz talks about being a badass, about making victims, but let his boss get smashed through a table without lifting a finger. Austin takes off his belt and tells Taz that he has to understand the position he put Austin in. These future superstars look up to him, so he better understand that he has to whip him. Austin tells Taz to take off his shirt and take it like a man. Taz doesn't comply. Austin whips him across the shoulder. Austin again tells him to take the shirt off, and again Taz doesn't comply. Austin starts pushing Taz around. Taz grabs Austin by the hands, but Austin kicks him down. Austin demands Raven and Morris beat down Taz, and they do. He gets Palumbo and O'Haire to beat down Taz. The Dudleys give him the Wassup Headbutt. Rhyno comes in and Gores him down. The troops hold Taz down and Austin starts starts whipping Taz with the belt over and over, trying to beat the respect into him. Fade Out.

In the back, Christian and Edge are talking about their opponents tonight. Edge asks Christian if he's actually going to come down to the ring tonight. Christian tries to explain that he couldn't be there because he had to get the King of the RIng trophey shined up. Edge tells him to keep the address of that shining place, because after he wins the IC Title at SummerSlam, he's going to need it.

Tajiri vs. Albert
-In the arena, Tajiri and Commissioner Regal come down to the ring. Then, two men who got everything they ever wanted, Albert and X-Pac, come down, as Albert takes on Tajiri. Albert starts with a knockdown, but Tajiri kicks him away. Gorrilla Press Slam by Albert, followed by a vertical splash 1-2-kickout. Tajiri starts kicking away at Albert, but the big man clothelsines him down. Albert rams him hard into the turnbuckle, but Tajiri grabs him in the corner. He goes for the Tarantula, but X-Pac pulls him out and beats on him. Regal runs over and beats X-Pac back, but the ref pulls Regal away. Pac runs back at Tajiri only to get the Green Mist! Tajiri comes back in the ring only to be grabbed for the Albert Bomb. Regal runs in and takes Albert's legs out. Tajiri falls on top 1-2-power out. Albert 'buckles Tajiri and sprays Red Mist at Albert! Kick of Death to the stunned Albert 1-2-3!

In the back, Michael Cole asks Angle how his ankle is and if he accepts RVD's challenge. Angle says that sure he's not 100%, and sure his ankle is sore, but he's not one to back down from a challenge. Suddenly, Hugh Morris attacks him from behind and rams him into the fencing. Angle reverses and slams his face into a table. Angle whips him into a bunch of pipes and locks in the Anglelock until the refs come to pull him away. Fade Out.

Edge & Christian vs. Lance Storm & Justin Credible
-Christian and Storm start this one off, with Christian flapjacking him into the ropes and getting an early count. Christian hits an atomic drop, but JC tagged in blindly. JC runs in and DDTs Christian. Pulling slam from the corner by JC and he tags in Storm again. Christian hits a spinning heel kick on the enterring Storm and both men go down. Tag to Edge. Edge taking down all comers. Edge whips JC, who hits Christian knocking him off the apron. Edge with a double clothesline to both his opponents. Edge goes to tag, but Christian is still crawling up with a hurt knee. Storm rolls him up 1-2-kickout. Storm holds Edge for a JC Superkick, but Edge ducks and JC nails Storm. Buzzkiller to a confused JC 1-2-3! After the match, Storm takes the legs out of a victorious Edge and locks in the Half Crab. Christian grabs a chair and hops into the ring, forcing the Storm and JC out of the ring.

In the back, Austin and Debra are pumping up RVD on his match tonight when Shawn Stasiak comes in. Austin tells him that he wants to take Stasiak under his wing. Austin asks if Stasiak is content to just be the son of a former WWF Champ. Stasiak says no and tells Austin that he's going to do something Austin has never seen tonight. Fade Out

In the back, DDP and Kanyon are talking to Palumbo and O'Haire. Kanyon tells them that tonight, Palumbo and O'Haire are going to take back their Tag Titles. DDP tells them that Taker and Kane think they're going to make an example tonight, but they're going to learn that the Alliance is in control tonight.

In the back, Kurt comes into Regal's office. Regal tells him that he knows Angle has an incredible fighting spirit, but he was just attacked by Hugh Morris, he's not at 100%, he has Austin this Sunday...does he really need to face RVD for the Hardcore Title tonight? Angle tells him that Regal couldn't possibly understand. Angle is an American, and Americans don't back down from anyone. He starts to tella story when a yell is heard. Angle looks and backs up as Shawn Stasiak charges in and runs smack into the armor in Regal's office. Fade Out.

Undertaker & Kane vs. Chuck Palumbo & Sean O'Haire
-The cage is down as Palumbo and O'Haire come down to try and reclaim their gold. Sadly, it is announced that you can win by pinfall. That's not a cage match, damnit! Anyway, Taker and Kane come down with their belts and their mascot Sara. Palumbo and O'Haire immedately attack Taker, while not allowing Kane in the door. Kane slams the door on O'Haire and comes in. Chokeslam to O'Haire, but instead of pinning, Kane pulls Palumbo off Taker. Meanwhile, DDP and Kanyon are watching from the stage. Back in the cage, Taker and Kane continue to doubleteam on Palumbo, while O'Haire is starting up the cage. Kane goes up smashes O'Haire down . Meanwhile, Taker scrapes Palumbo against the cage and he starts bleeding. Kane again chokeslams O'Haire. Doubleteam on Palumbo, with Taker and Kane beating the hell out of the bloody Alliance member. Last Ride to Palumbo. Meanwhile, DDP and Kanyon have made their ways to ringside. They chase Sara around, since Taker and Kane are stuck inside. Sara climbs up and sits on top of the cage. DDP and Kanyon start to climb, but Taker and Kane whip their opponents into the cage, knocking Page and Kanyon off. Sara watches as Kane and Taker both score the 1-2-3! Fade Out

Stephanie/Rhyno Interview
-"Our Time" hits and Stephanie comes out, accompanied by Rhyno. Steph says she feels good. No, not good...great, after the way Rhyno Gored Jericho through the SmackDown set. She watched the footage like a million times over the weekend, but why not see it again. Steph says that what he did was fantastic. But Rhyno must have knocked one of Y2J's screws lose, because Jericho accepted Rhyno's challenge for SummerSlam. Does Jericho even realize that he's lost to Jericho every time they've fought? And she's so confident that he'll get the job done, she's going to personally accompany him to rinside to watch the destruction. Stephanie calls for the footage one more time, but we don't get it. Instead... The Y2J Countdown hits 0.00 and out comes the Ayatollah. Jericho says that he's still feeling the effects of that Gore, and yes, he's never beaten Rhyno, but at SummerSlam, he's going to take care of that nasty, stinking, greasy animal... oh, and he'll beat Rhyno as well. Stephanie did say that Rhyno will "get the job done". But looking at Steph, it appears she is the expert at getting "the job" done. He did a little video detective work. Here's a picture of Steph from last year. And here's a picture of Steph from last week. It shows Steph in the same shirt, with much much larger breasts lately. It seems our little princess sure has grown in the last year, in two places at least. Let the bodies hit floor? Nah, let the boobies hit the floor. Steph says that she has no idea what Jericho is talking about. Jericho must be imagining things. Jericho says that maybe they should go to dinner and discuss this. There is a Hooters right down the road. Rhyno demands Jericho show some respect. If he doesn't, then why doesn't he come down to the ring, and Rhyno will beat it into him. Booker T's music hits, and the WCW Champ walks right past Jericho and into the ring. Booker T says that it pained him to listen to this punk-ass sucka dis her like that. You see Jericho, Steph is all natural. Booker T keeps stumbling and finally has to stop and compliment Steph on her look. But back to Jericho. He says that he hears there is an opening for a new Backstreet Boy, so maybe Jericho should check it out. Jericho tells Booker that there's an opening on the A-Team reunion special, so maybe Booker should check that out. Booker tells Rhyno that after he beats Jericho at SummerSlam, Booker is going to take The Rock to school. This of course brings out The Great One. Did Booker just say he was going to take The Rock to school? The Rock can only imagine what Booker was like in high school: the only 27 year-old senior the world has ever seen, standing on the corner with his momma when that short bus pulls up. He gets to class, where the teacher asks "Class, what is 2+2? Do you know Booker?" "Ah yeah, 2+2? It's Thomas Jefferson, sucka!" Obviously Booker is an intelligent man, but not as smart as Shane McMahon. Shane was smart to not come out tonight, after getting a Rock Bottom through the table. But that just proves the saying: Booker T - hair done Whoopi; Shane McMahon - still a pussy. Jericho tells Rock that was good, but he's forgetting the other two in the ring. There's a man-beast, and a hose-beast. There's the Gore, and the Whore! Rock understands what's going on, it's a rhyming contest. So try this one: Booker T - Just a Sucka; Shane McMahon - Silver Spoon Motherfucka! Steph says that this is way too much. If they want it so bad, why wait for SummerSlam? Tonight it will be Rhyno and Booker T against Jericho and Rock. Jericho says that he loves the idea. In fact Steph is the breast--er, best. Rock says that they're going to beat Rhyno and Booker all over the ring. They'll go to China, Russia, everywhere. And don't worry: if they get in trouble they can use Stephanie as a floatation device. But no matter where they go, it'll all end up back in Chicago with Jericho and The Rock kicking their candy asses. If ya smell what The Rock is cookin'. Fade Out.

Austin and Debra are discussing the RVD/Angle match when Hurricane Helms comes in. Helms says that he's ready to do something, after the inspirational speech. Austin asks what his tattoo is. Helms tells him its the Green Lantern symbol. Austin asks what the hell the Green Lantern is. Helms tells him that Green Lantern is a superhero who beat Superman one time. Austin says that sounds like Angle, thinking he's a superhero. Austin tells him to live up to his name and raise hell like a hurricane out there.

Test vs. Spike Dudley
-In the arena, the newest ECWCW wrestler, Test, comes down the ramp. Spike Dudley comes down, with Molly, to make his triumphant return from injury. Right off the bat Spike goes for the Acid Drop, but Test blocks and tosses him all the way down to the outside. Spike appears to be hurt again, but Test keeps laying the hurt on him, ramming him into the ringpost. Back in the ring, Test goes up for the Elbow Drop, but Spike moves in time. Low dropkicks by Spike to take Test's legs out. Big boot by Spike and a hurricanrana. Spike goes for the Acid Drop again, but Test pushes him back and Big Boots him down 1-2-3! After the match, Test picks up Spike and powerbombs him down. He picks him up again, and this time, Molly stops him and slaps him. Test grabs her to powerbomb her, but the Acolytes run down and beat Test out of the ring. The Dudleys run down and beat down the aPa, only for the former Tag Champs to reverse the tides and beat the Dudleys out of the ring.

In the back, Matt and Lita tell Kurt that they're very concerned about his ankle and having to fight RVD in a Hardcore Title match. Angle tells them that he's got to do it, and he'll still kill Austin on Sunday. Angle starts going off about all the superheros better than Green Lantern, when Helms comes in. Helms says that all the smack he's been talking about Green Lantern is untrue, damn untrue. Helms smacks Kurt's glass of milk away, causing Kurt to get very pissed. Angle punches Helms and then slams him hard onto the buffet table, before nailing him with the cookie tray.

Kurt Angle vs. Rob Van Dam
-In the arena, WWF Hardcore Champion Rob Van Dam makes his way down to defend his belt. The Match is coming up next! Fade Out. Angle comes down the ramp as we come back, and RVD meets him on the ramp. Angle slams RVD's head repeatedly into the steps. Clothesline by Angle 1-2-shoulder up. RVD whips Angle into and over the barrier. RVD sets Angle onto the barrier and then climbs the stairs. RVD leaps and hits a leg drop onto the prone Angle 1-2-shoulder up. In the ring, RVD sets up a chair in the turnbuckle, but turns around into an Angle dropkick which sends RVD into the chair 1-2-shoulder up. Spinning heel kick by RVD. RVD picks up the chair and dropkicks it into Angle's face 1-2-shoulder up. Back elbow by Angle, but RVD 'buckles him. RVD rolls towards the corner, but right into an Angle flying cothesline! Angle locks in the Anglelock, but releases when Tommy Dreamer and Raven run down. Angle knocks Raven off the apron and locks suplexes an incoming Hugh Morris. Jeff Hardy runs down from nowhere and takes out Raven. Angle hits the Olympic Slam on RVD and then the Anglelock on Dreamer. Jeff hops onto the turnbuckle and hits the Swanton on RVD. Jeff pins him 1-2-3! Jeff Hardy brings the Hardcore Title back to the WWF! Fade Out.

In the back, Stasiak asks Debra is Austin is angry at him for screwing up. Debra says he invented about three new curse words. Stasiak waits outside the bathroom door for Austin. The door slams open and knocks out Stasiak. Austin tells Debra that they're going.

In the arena, Rhyno and Stephanie come down to the ring, followed by Booker T and Shane'O Mac. Fade Out

Chris Jericho & The Rock vs. Booker T & Rhyno
-The Y2J Countdown hits 0.00 for the second time tonight, and out comes the Ayatollah. The Rock comes down, and the two WWFers get into the ring. Jericho and Rhyno start this one off, with Jericho taking it to Rhyno with knees and clubs. Crossbody by Jericho and some mounted punches. Chops by Jericho, then a big boot. Jericho goes second rope for a missile dropkick 1-broken by Booker T. Tag to Rock. Rock starts laying the smack down on Rhyno and clotheslines him down. He calls for Booker T to come in, but he has to keep dealing with Rhyno. Tag to Jericho. More chops by Jericho. Jericho side-steps a Rhyno charge, and hits Booker T. Booker pulls Jericho down by the hair, allowing Rhyno to start stomping away. Tag to Booker T. Reverse thrust kick by Rock and an early two count. Chops by Booker, but Jericho scores a flapjack and the two men go down. Tags to Rhyno and to Rock. Rock starts punching away on Rhyno. Overhead belly-belly by Rock, who starts attacking the incoming Booker T. Rock goes off the ropes, but Rhyno pulls the ropes down and he flies outisde. Rock comes in the ring and hits a Spinebuster on Rhyno. He sets him up for the People's Elbow, but Booker pulls him out and slams him into the announce table. Meanwhile, Jericho comes back into the ring and locks in the Walls of Jericho on Rhyno, who starts tapping. There's no ref to call for the bell. A WWF Ref runs down the ramp, only to be clothelsined down hard by Shane. Steph comes in the ring and slaps Jericho. Jericho trips her and goes for the Walls, but Rhyno low blows him and rolls him up. Charles Robinson runs down to count the quick 1-2-3! Rhyno gets up and Gores Jericho after the fact. Rock slams Booker into the steps and comes back in. Rock starts beating on Rhyno, when Shane comes in. Rock knocks Shane'O out and hits the Rock Bottom on Charles Robinson. Rock Bottom to Rhyno. He sets Shane for the Rock Bottom, but Booker pulls him around and hits the Book End, but apparently we're still calling it a Rock Bottom. Shane comes in and puts a chair on the mat, and Booker hits the Rock Bottom on Rock onto the chair again. End Show.
