Pete Roberts' Radio Services

The 1960s Transistor Workshop

I've received so many encouraging emails I've been persuaded to continue my repair service but I'm restricting it to transistor radios from the Fab Fifties, Swinging Sixties and Sexy Seventies, including vintage transistor car radios, together with valve portables and small table radios.

Roberts radios (all models) repaired for £25 plus cost of return post. Price includes all small electronic parts but new vinyl handles £10 extra.  Hacker models repaired for the same price. 18v stabilised mains PSU for Hacker models £17 if ordered at the same time as repair.

Coronet 2-transistor boy's radio

Fab Sixties pocket trannies, reliable repair £10 (inc parts)+ cost of return postage.

Especially for Volkswagen owners: Blaupunkt dual voltage, dual polarity radios, valve + inverter and fully transistorised versions - cost of repair £35 (+ return post) which includes replacement of all small parts that will have deteriorated over the past forty-odd years.

Noblitt & Sparks Mighty Mite front view

Miniature valve radios like this American Noblitt & Sparks Mighty Mite welcome. Special "make safe and reliable" service for Bush DAC90 and similar: £25.  Not a full refurbishment but just replacement of all parts needed for you to put the radio into daily use - inluding fitting a mains lead.  This helps retain originality.

Sony ICF-SW1

Full electronic refurbishment of Sony ICF-SW1, ICF-7600 and ICF-SW55 is £40 + £5 return post by Royal Mail Special Delivery to UK addresses - other models considered. The price includes labour and all small parts except for any special components (very rarely needed). I give a 90-day warranty on the repair and even throw in a set of new alkaline AAs.

Rather than spend hard-earned money on inferior imports it makes both economic and evironmental sense to repair your older, better made equipment. Don't worry about it becoming obsolete: there are no plans to discontinue analogue radio broadcasts - and given the problems now becoming obvious with DAB nor will there be in the foreseeable future.

Please feel free to call my mobile number: 07794 329 912 or send a text in plain English - I've now got a Motorola MotoFone with an "electronic paper" display that I can actually see!  If it's turned off or you get no reply please try later   or email. I'd like to thank customers past and present for their support.  Meanwhile please take a look at my "mission statement" and my reminisces page.
