Hampshire Mineral & Fossil Show Details

The Show for 2008 wil be held on Saturday 6th September. Doors open at 10:00 and the Show finishes at 16:30. Admission is only £1 for adults with accompanied children and RockWatch members free.

The Show is in two halls, all on one level, and is suitable for visitors with mobility disabilities. Facilities for the disabled are present in the venue. Refreshments are available throughout the day at reasonable prices. Further details on the Show can be obtained from SMFS using the menu Contact Us option.

For 2008 there will be a new layout to the Show with all of the sales and dealers in the main hall and all of the displays in the second hall.

Mineral & Fossil Show Highlights for 2008

For the 2008 Show we have made a few changes and increased the number and area of mineral and fossil related displays for the greater enjoyment of our vistors. Highlights for the 2008 Hampshire Mineral & Fossil Show are:

  • The guest display will be staged by the Natural History Museum (London) Palaeontology Department.
  • A display by The Dinosaur Isle Museum, Isle of Wight.
  • The SMFS display is "Mineral & Fossil Record Breakers." The record holders of the mineral & fossil world.
  • The Dorset Group of the Geologists' Association will be displaying their latest work.
  • The Russell Society (Southern Branch) will be displaying some their recent magnificent finds.
  • Bring along your unknown specimens for identification by the experts.

Hampshire Mineral & Fossil Show Location

In the centre of the Lyndhurst, Hampshire, in the New Forest, Lyndhurst Community Centre has good facilities and ample parking. It is easily accessible from Junctions 1, 2 or 3 of the M27 and is on the the A35; follow the signs for the New Forest Visitor Centre that is in the same car park. The lovely town of Lyndhurst is the administrative centre of the New Forest and has many other attractions to make it a great day out for the whole family. Regular Features of the Hampshire Mineral & Fossil Show are displays on mineral and fossil subjects.

Regular Show Features

There are 36 tables for the sales of minerals, fossils, gems, crystals, second hand, out of print and antiquarian books and maps. There are minerals and fossils from worldwide and British locations at prices to suit all pockets. An ideal way for a beginner to start a collection. There are also cut and polished ornamental pieces for sale.

There are 10 tables of displays of minerals, fossils and geology by national institutions and groups, local Societies and individual collectors. All of the people on these stands have considerable knowledge and will be pleased to see your specimens and unknows - who knows you may have something that is rare.

Throughout the day there will be a selection of homemade food and cakes, tea, coffee and other refreshments on sale at very reasonable prices.

Participate in the Hampshire Mineral & Fossil Show

Due to a change in layout of the show for 2008, and a dealers not being available, we have a couple of vacant table spaces for trade sales. The cost is very reasonable for a single or double 6 ft long table space.

All dealers are in one well lit large hall that is laid with sufficient space to allow our visitors to browse in comfort. Power is also available for lighting. If you would like to join us this year request a booking form using the menu Contact Us option above.
