Hampshire Mineral & Fossil Show Details
The Show for 2009 wil be held on Saturday
5th September. Doors open at 10:00 and the
Show finishes at 16:30. Admission is only
£1 for adults with accompanied
children and RockWatch members free.
The Show is in two halls, all on one level,
and is suitable for visitors with mobility
disabilities. Facilities for the disabled
are present in the venue. Refreshments are
available throughout the day at reasonable
prices. Further details on the Show can be

The layout of the Show has all of the sales
and dealers in the Linden Room and all of
the exhibits and displays in the Pine Room.
This allows the exhibitors to be able to spread
out gives better access to visitors to view
the displayed material.
The main hall at the Show hosts all of the dealers with the displays in the second hall.
Mineral & Fossil Show Highlights for 2009
For the 2008 Show we made a few
changes and increased the number and area
of mineral and fossil related displays for
the greater enjoyment of our vistors. This
was such a success that it will continue
in 2009 with more displays as well.
For the 2009 Hampshire Mineral
& Fossil Show there will be many
attractions for the public and these
are being arranged or are already confirmed.
- Following their very popular visit in 2007 The guest display will again be presented by the The Dinosaur Isle Museum, Isle of Wight with a superb range of specimens that you view and handle.
- A mineral collector from France will be displaying and selling specimens from Europe and the World.
- High quality dealers will have the best specimens from the UK, and the rest of the world.
- SMFS will have a display by members on what it means to them to collect minerals and fossils and why their hobby gives them so much pleasure.
- The Dorset Group of the Geologists' Association will be displaying their latest work.
- The Russell Society (Southern Branch) will be promoting their activities and will be available to identify your mineral specimens.
- SMFS members will have displays of their personal collections showing the range and interests of our members.
- Bring along your unknown mineral and fossil specimens for identification by experts who will be present at the Show.

Hampshire Mineral & Fossil Show Location
In the centre of the Lyndhurst, Hampshire,
in the New Forest, Lyndhurst Community
Centre has good facilities and ample
parking. It is easily accessible from
Junctions 1, 2 or 3 of the M27 and is on
the the A35; follow the signs for the New
Forest Visitor Centre that is in the same
car park. The lovely town of Lyndhurst is
the administrative centre of the New Forest
and has many other attractions to make it a
great day out for the whole family. For

All displays are all together in one well lit exhibition room.
Regular Show Features
There are 35 tables for the sales of
minerals, fossils, gems, crystals, second
hand, out of print and antiquarian books
and maps. There are minerals and fossils
from worldwide and British locations at
prices to suit all pockets. An ideal way
for a beginner to start a collection. There
are also cut and polished ornamental pieces
and jewellery for sale.
There are 10 tables of displays of
minerals, fossils and geology by national
institutions and groups, local Societies
and individual collectors. All of the
people on these stands have considerable
knowledge and will be pleased to see your
specimens and unknows - who knows you may
have something that is rare.
Throughout the day there will be tea,
coffee and other refreshments on sale at
very reasonable prices. Unfortunately for
2009 we are unable to provide the normal
range of refreshments.

Due to a change in layout of the show and
some dealers not being available, we have
some vacant table spaces for trade sales.
The cost is very reasonable for a single or double
6 ft long table space.
All dealers are in one well lit large hall
that is laid with sufficient space to allow our
visitors to browse in comfort. Power is also
available for lighting.
