Round 3 Melbourne

Dubbed the sporting capital of the world. Melbourne is living up to its name. Just a few days ago marathon runners were pounding the track of Albert Park as part of the Commonwealth Games. No sooner that the last runner was through preparations continued for the Australian GP. Honda go into this race looking consistent and strong. 2006 must be a winning year for Jenson. Rubens is still finding his feet, but don't let his position to date fool you. Renault continues to be on top of the world although they do seem to have a few problems with strategy. Alonso was fuelled up too much during qualifying, and looked strong in the race, but did not seem to make the most of it. One can only suspect that they were saving the engines. McLaren had disappointment again in Sepang, but come to Australia hoping for better luck.   More to follow closer to the race

Our Prediction is: 1st 2nd3rd : 5                                                  5

Track Facts

Held in Albert Park in the heart of Melbourne nobody can doubt the Australian grand prix is all about the grand launch of this giant circus, its atmosphere is second to none. Controversy however never seems to be far away from this venue. There were protests before it was built. Then in 2001 the death of a marshal and a spectacular crash at the start of the 2002 race which saw the Williams of Ralph Schumacher launched into the air before turn one.

A narrow track with some sharp corners which are waiting to catch out those who’s thoughts are still on winter at home in Monaco. Even Michael Schumacher had a nasty moment in 2002 practice.

Track Length 5.3km/3.2 miles. Race distance 58 Laps
