We had a great Summer Camp at Crook
of Devon in July. Waterskiing, hiking, pioneering and swimming all in reasonably
good weather – though the leaders aged 5 years in the 5 days we were
away.
With the change in night and the reduction in numbers
we have successfully reintroduced badgework. Many of the boys have successfully
obtained 3 challenge badges, and next year if they get a 4th – they
can work on the Chief Scouts Gold Award. They have also gained quite a few
activity badges.

Tuesday Cub Pack Camp
@ The Craig's Scout Camping Site:- 11th - 12 June 2005
The Tuesday Cub Pack had really good camp at the weekend as the weather
was good and the boys did many activities which included learning knots to
playing wide games. The cubs also learned about campfire building. Our two
Beaver Colonies came up on the Sunday with about 20 Beavers to see what cub
camping is like and also to meet the cubs and for those going up to the cubs
after the summer the Leaders.
Thanks goes to the Leader: Akela and the helpers who were a great help at
the camp, plus the Beaver Leaders for bringing their Beavers and also providing
some really good games and also helping around during their visit.

Scouting began in 1907 when Robert Baden-Powell organised the first camp on Brownsea Island. In 1925 while Scouting was still in its relative infancy the scouting movement added another group to its growing list of members when the 4th West Lothian Scout Group was formed in June of that year.
Over the intervening years the Group has seen many changes within the Scout movement. Beavers became full members of the Scout Movement in 1986 and girls were allowed to join. More recently we have seen a review of the programme.
Our Group caters for over 120 young people from the ages of 6 up to 18.
We are now the biggest Scout Group in West Lothian and will
continue to thrive with the excellent support of dedicated Leaders, Helpers,
Office Bearers, Parents and Members who have supported the Group over the
years.
At present we are able to run 2 Beavers Colonies, 2 Cub Packs, 1 Scout Troop
and 1 Explorer Scout Unit all of which actively participate in a full range
of fun, challenging and rewarding activities organised by their Leaders.

Current up-to-date
events happening in 2005:-
Lastest News:- St. Andrews's Day Parade
There was a good turn out at our Annual Church Parade on the 27th November
11 Scout Groups in West Lothian who were present. The weather made the difference.
The Area raised £350 for the Beatlie School in West Lothian, which is
fantastic, as it shows how much support we give to other organisations.
The 4th West Lothian Scout Group is based in the Mackinnon Hall, Linlithgow Bridge. We have Beavers, Cubs and Scouts within our Group and have over120 members across these 4 sections. Each section is led by warranted leaders and helpers to deliver the scouting programme to all between the ages of 6 and 18.
Scouting is not just about camping and building fires. We do other things as well, play games, knotting, make crafts, visits from interesting people. The Beavers do many activities and go on many trips. The Cubs also go on Camps and trips etc, and the Scouts, they do Camping, Karting and hillwalking and many more activities.
The Scouting programme is a balanced activity programme where the young people come along to learn different skills that will help them in the years to come. Many Scouts then go on to become Leaders and pass on all the knowledge they have to the next generation of Scouts.
Everyone involved within our Scout Group is a volunteer and
gives up their own time to help and encourage the young people to achieve
all that they can.
