DR. STEVE WILLIAMS - CHESS CURRICULUM VITAE

 

 

 

 

·       I am an active player (club and county chess and tournaments including international ones) and hold the title of County Master. Current rating BCF 150. I have been playing since I was eight years old, with a long lay-off for the sake of my career aged 19-37.

·       At correspondence chess, I play for Britain in international friendly matches, and have qualified for the final (F4) of the Open Championship of the British Federation for Correspondence Chess and for the final of the Bernard Partridge Memorial Tournament, an international (North Sea) “stars barred” event.

·       I am a British Chess Federation (BCF) Area Coach.

·       I have been Minutes Secretary of the British Chess Federation (1995-97).

·       I am Publicity Officer and have been Secretary (1996-2000) and Publications Officer (1994-2000) of the British Federation for Correspondence Chess.

·       I am North Essex Chess League Representative on the Council of the BCF.

·       I have been captain since 1999 of Colchester first team, which plays in the North Essex League.

·       I have published a series of ten articles on the psychology of chess in British Federation for Correspondence Chess Information Circular, which I edited for a year. I have also published elsewhere on chess.
