Jay: I like a woman who's not afraid to
be herself. Courteney Cox ladies and gentlemen!
Now did you have fun being fat? Was that fun?
Courteney: Well you know what, it's not that fun.
Jay: Oh I enjoy it.
Courteney: You're not fat.
Jay: Well, I'm a little chubby.
Courteney: Let me tell you, putting on
that stuff, it's really hot. That's the problem. It's like a lot of
appliances on your face. But the rest of it is great because there's some
part of it that makes you really uninhabited. And they did ask me, they
said "um we want you to just dance."
Jay: Well I want to see it again 'let's
see you dance again. Take a look. I mean I love the face--
Courteney: I dance better as fat
Monica, than I do myself. Yeah.
Jay: Do you wish you could just eat
whatever you wanted like that? Cause you are always so slim and trim. Are
you a person that could just--
Courteney: I love to eat. I
do. I have a really high. I'm pretty high anxiety so I do burn
calories.
Jay: Oh so you can eat whatever you
want.
Courteney: I can't eat whatever I want
but I just kinda know what to eat but I do like. Food is really
important. It is. I just love to eat. I believe in that
protein thing where you eat more protein than carbs.
Jay: Now clear something up.
Cause I hear it's Courteney Cox and then I hear now "no Courteney Cox
Arquette"
Courteney: I am Courteney Cox
Arquette.
Jay: Right, I know that.
Courteney: But I don't know. As
you get older, it just seems like I wanted to be Courteney Cox. Because,
when I was younger I wanted to change my name, because you can imagine the
stories that, you know Courteney...Cox. "How do you spell that?"
things like that.
Jay: Well men are so subtle.
Courteney: They're so subtle,
really. So I wanted to change it when I was younger and I couldn't wait to
get married, but then once I did I wanted to keep the family's name. And
there's a million Arquettes.
Jay: Got it. Well there are a lot
of Arquettes, but there's not that many ...
Courteney: ...Coxes
Jay: Right, right ... and when you find
one you like, you want to keep it.
Courteney: Oooh.
Jay: How long have you been married
now? Do you still like being married? We had an argument last night
with someone who was totally against marriage. Are you enjoying it?
Do you like it?
Courteney: Yes. I love it.
Yes.
Jay: Yeah, I like it. I've been
married for 20 years.
Courteney:You've been married for 20
years?
Jay: Yeah, yeah, yeah. How long
you've been married now?
Courteney: It'll be two years in June.
Jay: Is it 2? I'm thinking it's
just like a year, but I guess that's right.
Courteney: No, almost two.
Jay: Well, I was reading this thing
about you in "JANE" because I enjoy reading magazines about woman's
hairstyles. No, but it has this whole thing on you. It's a picture
of your first car. Let's look there. What is that a Datsun?
Courteney: That's a Datsun 210.
Jay: A B-210. Oh that's kinda
cool.
Courteney: And it is a B-210 and I
love that you know that.
Jay: What age were you when you learned
to drive?
Courteney:I learned early because my
dad...driving was a big part of our life. I learned probably like at 10.
Jay: 10?
Courteney: Yeah, I was driving a car
at 10. I had my first accident at like 14.
Jay: In Alabama, you can get your
permit at 9 1/2 I guess. How could you drive at 11?
Courteney: Well, just because my dad
was really, that was something that he could really teach the kids. And he
wasn't into going to the you know, dance studio or ballet, so he taught us how
to drive, and that's what we did at a very young age.
Jay: You had this all through your
teenage years, this car?
Courteney: Well, that was my first car
and the first one I bought and I got it from my dad and my dad is a salesman,
and that was one of his salesman's car.
Jay: Oh okay.
Courteney: You can imagine with 120,
000 miles on it, it was my first...I was very proud of it though.
Jay: Big make out mobile?
Courteney: I think I made out a few
times in that car.
Jay: Did it have that seat that goes
back?
Courteney: Far enough.
Jay: We'll find out more about this.
Courteney: [ Points to magazine] I
think that's where I made out.
Jay: I love that dress.
*commercial break*
Jay: We're back talking with Courteney
Cox, her new movie is 3000 Miles To Graceland. You know I haven't seen
this. I've seen the previews, it looks kind of cool. What's it
about?
Courteney: It's about these guys who
dress up as Elvis and go in and rob a casino and my husband was one of the
Elvis', David Arquette.
Jay: Right.
Courteney: Um, and uh, it's about what
happens to the money. And I meet up with Kurt Russell, and we just kind of
track the money and see who has it at the end.
Jay: Now, have you ever stolen anything
in your life?
Courteney: Um yeah.
Jay: Even as a kid.
Courteney: Yeah, yeah, I'll tell you.
Jay: What did you steal?
Courteney: There was this little drug
store, if it's still there; I apologize, called 'Smith's'
Jay: This is where? In Birmingham?
Courteney: Yeah, in Birmingham,
Alabama, where I'm from and I stole a bunch of candy. I went down on my
bike and stole a bunch of candy. And like I think I stole lighters too,
but I don't think I was smoking back then, but I stole...I remember a lot of
lighters and candy. And I went home and I got in my closet and I was
counting my loot, you know, and my mom came in and I got busted.
Jay: Oh, and did you have to go back
down to the store with one of these, *pulls ear*
Courteney: Yeah, I think she might
have pushed me on my bike quickly.
Jay: Ooh, and she didn't go with you?
Courteney: No. I had to go do it
on my own.
Jay: And you returned it and you did
it?
Courteney: Yeah well, I probably
didn't return all of it, but I gave some of it. I'm no fool.
Jay: Now, did you go crazy in
Vegas? Do you gamble? Like, you're there filming, do you go nuts?
Courteney: I'm not a big
gambler. It makes me so uncomfortable to lose. First of all, every
time I go down there, I lose within the first 20 minutes. I lose
everything I planned on losing. So, it's not fun for me at all.
David LOVES it. I heard you don't like to gamble, do you not?
Jay: No, you know, like winning a
thousand dollars doesn't make me feel much better than losing a hundred would
make me feel bad.
Courteney: Yeah, so why do it?
It's so frustrating.
Jay: Yeah, I'm playing 21 and the guy
goes ' yeah you got 38' oh okay. I guess I'm out. Cos, I'm
dyslexic. I get the cards. Is that a queen? Is that an
eight? Now give us some gossip of the guys. Who's in it?
Courteney: Kurt Russell, Kevin
Costner, Christian Slater, David Arquette, Bokeem Woodbine, Ice-T, Howie
Long. There's a lot of guys and me. All guys.
Jay: Now, put your husband out of the
equation. Which would be the cutest of the guys?
Courteney: Well, I really loved
Kurt. Because Kurt reminds me of my family. He is the most blunt
honest person...he is so honest in a good way. He sticks to his opinions
and that's the way it is.
Jay: Oh you like that kind of guy.
Courteney: I like that because for me
that makes a more interesting person. I just really got along with him
well. He reminds me of my brothers here. Kurt is definitely...He's
fun. And Kevin is really sweet...and he's nuturing. You can tell he
has kids.
Jay: Men never talk that way among men,
"I met this girl, I was nuturing"
Courteney: Let me tell you something,
that nuturing stuff works.
Jay: Hey, let's take a look. Tell
us what we're gonna see in this scene.
Courteney: This is the first time I
meet Kurt. It's like the opening scene of the movie.
Jay: Let's take a look. 3000 Miles To Graceland.
*clip*
Jay: Hey, good luck with the
movie. It opens this Friday. Courteney, I know you have to
run. Thank you very much. Courteney Cox, ladies and gentlemen.
