Ratting
Ratting is the activity of hunting and slaying the rats that infest the major
cities and sewer systems of Aetolia. This is an ideal way to earn money, as
there exist, in every major city, men or women who are paid by the cities to
rid the cities of their vermin. Simply slay the rats you find, and SELL their
dead bodies to the men. You will find the Ratman in Ashtan in the northwest
part of the city, near the docks. You will find Crazy Hakhim near the Medina
in Shallam.

Because there are so many rats wandering about the cities and because seeing
them enter and exit can become annoying, the command RATS will toggle on and
off your ability to notice rats. Generally, you will want to turn this off
while you are not out ratting.

When you see a rat dart out of its hiding spot, by all means, slay it before
it can run away. Once a certain number of rats have been slain in a location,
no more rats will appear there until a new Aetolian day. Generally, you'll
find that a sewer location contains more rats than a normal city street.

There are five types of rats. Ranging from most common to least common (which
also corresponds to least valuable to most valuable), they are:
baby rat
young rat
rat
old rat
black rat

Questing
There are a multitude of quests available that will pay gold. This gold may range from just 20 or 30, up to thousands. For
newbies, we suggest exploring Minia, Lodi, and Gorshire, as there are many quests there to provide one with money for a shiny
new sword, or a perhaps a stylish leather backpack.

Merchanthood
If you have something to sell, you could go about selling it in a number of ways. The first, and simplest way, is simply to ask the people you know if they need to buy what you’re selling. Clearly however, this isn’t a very efficient way, and you probably don’t know enough people to make a living from. You have three major options to reach a larger audience.

The Market Channel
This channel exists for the sole purpose of selling or asking to buy good or services. It is free to use.

Classified ads
These ads are inexpensive to purchase, and can be viewed by anyone.

Shops
Buying a shop requires the most initial investment of these three methods. There are many player shops scatterd throughout the cities and Delos. If you wish to buy one, contact the owner of the shop and make him or her an offer. You may sometimes see shops that are closed. This is usually a result of unpaid taxes, resulting in the city closing down the shop. In these cases, it may be possible to purchase the shop from the city. The Chancellor and his aides are responsible for the ships of a city. HELP SHOPKEEPING will provide more extensive information about running a shop.

Trade Skills
So what is it you can sell? The answer may depend quite heavily on your class. Current trade skills and class requirements
are:
Skill: Class

Venoms : Shadowsnakes
- Secrete about 30 different venoms into your fangs and milk them into vials for sale to weapons users.

Concoctions : Druids and Sentinels
- Harvest a variety of herbs and roots that can be eaten, smoked, and mixed together into various concoctions.

Forging : Paladins and Infernals
- Create a selection of armour and weapons, slaving away at the forge.

Enchantment : Magi
- Using magical rituals and the ourobori, create magical items, or enchant existing ones.

More tradeskills, both dependent on class and indepdenent of class will be implemented in the future.

Slaying mobiles
As you adventure to the more dangerous areas of the land, and slay creatures big and small, you may find that some of them possess small or even rather large stashes of gold. In the case of the most powerful monsters, such as Yudhishthira, this can add up to quite a lot of gold. These five ways are not the only ways of earning money in Achaea. We will leave it to you to discover the full range of possibilities.
