Shiva is a name for god that has been in use for tens of thousands of years.  It means auspicious.  Lord Shiva makes everything auspicious.  He destroys fear. Anywhere, anything, any experience that is scary for us, Lord Shiva is already there changing it into a blessing.

The closest temple for everyone is themselves.  God is not separate from us, off in heaven somewhere.  God pervades our body, mind and spirit and the whole world around us.  The next closest temple is the one in a quiet special place in your home where you can go to pray and meditate.  Then there are many temples outside, in your town, in your country, and even on the internet.  Temples help us to remember and rejoice in the divine everywhere.  Keep your temples beautiful places for peace and growth.
