Life

When I was born, doctors thought I had many incurable conditions.  They advised my mother to place me in an institution and forget about me.  She would have other children and I was not expected to live past age 12.  I would be very difficult to care for and would not be very functional.  By some grace, my mother decided to pray and try to take very good care of me.  She tried several alternative approaches as I grew. I am now in my mid-fifties. Of course, I value complementary medicine.

Chanting or singing balances the mind.  It eliminates depression. Many Hindus are initiated into a mantra, like the gayatri, which they say every day.  Most religions have some form of chanting.
