The Society was formed in May 1963 to further the interests and practice in the visual arts within the county.

Its first chairman was Hywel Harries, the celebrated Welsh artist.


Among the founder members was Ogwyn Davies who lives in Tregaron. 

Over the last 42 years the society has flourished and has increased its membership to over 150.

Nine meetings a year are held in the Ceredigion County Museum, Terrace Road, Aberystwyth. 

New members of all ages are always welcome.


The meetings include talks given by 
guest speakers including several notable
artists, practical demonstrations, a 
critics' evening and an annual open
exhibition held every August when 
members are invited to display and sell 
their work if they wish.

There was a record entry in the Millennium Year Exhibition with over 200 entries on display.

The collection of paintings shown on these pages are a selection from the last two annual exhibitions. 

They are the work of several members of the society using a variety of media.
