Hello, my name is Saqhib Ali, and I am 34 years old. I was born in Liverpool, but have lived in Bedfordshire since I was 8 years old. I live in a small village between Bedford and Luton. I am married to a District Nurse, and have two young children, aged 8 and nearly 5. I have a Science degree from the University of Leeds, I trained as an Accountant, and hope to obtain a Law Degree from the University of London this year. I have worked in Finance for nearly 12 years, working with most European countries and the US, living and working recently for 2 years in France.
I believe that there must be another way, and whilst I understand what parties such as UKIP, Greens and Respect are trying to do- I believe a real change can only come in the middle ground. Labour, Lib Dems and Conservative have had their chance and constantly try to score points off each other. Two of the main parties have decided to "parachute in" candidates, I believe Mid Beds needs a local person that understands the rural nature of the community, and has seen first hand the dwindling state of our local towns and major local businesses; this can not be appreciated in a few days or weeks. I support several policies of the main parties but with out the party "whip" I will be free to pursue policies that I believe will help us enjoy our homes and families, protect our jobs, boost the local economy, and infrastructure and provide a better education for our children, housing for those trying to get a foot on the ladder, heathcare and prevention, and suppport for the elderly and in need.
