Hello, my name is Roxy and I am a Bull Terrier
puppy, here I am at 18 weeks old. I moved to my new home in Plymouth and
now live with my new family and a dog called Gilbert. He is called that because
he is a short stumpy staffy cross, a bit like a rugby ball.
Gilbert is a make of rugby ball. My new boy plays rugby, maybe I can play
with him sometimes, if I don't eat the ball first!
I have been named Roxy because my
boy also likes surfing. I think it is a cool name and I am already starting
to answer to it. My KC name is "She's Georgies Girl"
after my mum "Genas Georgie". My dad is called "Moonshine Lad".
Oh dear! I don't think I'll ever get this
toilet training thing sorted out. Now do I go in the garden or on the
carpet? whoops too late, the carpet it is then.

Guess what? I'm going on a trip. Their
taking me to see someone called vet, I hope he's nice and gives me a treat.
WARNING to all puppies out there "VET" is
not nice. I didn't get a treat. I got an injection, but I didn't cry, my mum
says I was a very brave puppy and gave me an extra big cuddle, (but I'm not
going again).
Well, I've been here a week now and
things are going pretty well. Gilbert and I are getting on fine he doesn't
like it when I bite his ears though or try to eat his dinner! But I'm sure
he'll learn.
I've learnt a new word "NO". I seem to
hear it quite a lot. I think it means wait till no ones looking, then chew
the shoe, or pull the washing down.

I had to go to school today, it was fun,
I got to meet lots of other dogs, there are some strange looking dogs out
there (and they call me ugly)!
I got lots of attention because I’m so little, but then I had to do some
work and this man kept trying to look in my mouth.
I have to stop trying to eat my lead, and come when I’m called, but there
are so many interesting things to see and do. I have noticed when I do come
back I get a treat, I might do it more often.

Hmm I got into trouble today, my mum called me Poxy Roxy. I was only chewing
my boys Billabong hat, I didn’t know he wanted it. He left it on the table
and I can reach there now. (I think I did my mum a favour, he wont leave
anything lying around again).

I went to my first companion show today. I tried to remember everything I
had learned at training but I’m sure the judge wanted to play as much as I
did. She said it was okay because I am only just 6 months old. And guess
what? I won 1st place in the puppy class. I got a red rosette my mum was so
pleased.

Hey! I went to another show this weekend. I was a bit better but I’m still
sure everyone wants to play with me. I got a second place in the puppy
class.
If my mum thinks I’m getting better at this showing thing, why is she taking
me to another training class? This ones called ring craft and boy do they
make you work, but I made lots of new friends and mum got to talk to some
other people with Bull Terrors. I’m going to have to be careful now she
might get to know some of my bully tricks.

Well I’m 6 ½ months old now. I’ve got another 1st and 2nd at two more
companion shows, I'm still a bit naughty (the judges fingers tasted so good)
Mum has put us in for an open show next weekend but she’s panicking now,
I might behave if there are treats on offer (ha ha ha)

They took me for a walk on the moors to
find some Letterboxes and it was very cold and windy. There were some very
fluffy things there which my Mum said were "sheep" I wasn't allowed to play
with them but I really wanted to. They looked like they could have been fun.
It started to rain and I curled up in a ball between Mum's feet and started
to cry. I really don't know why they enjoy this place so much. I was glad
when we got back to the car and wrapped up in a blanket!

I have done my first Open Show now and it
went quite well. I knew I was going to a show because I got put in the big
white trough thing and had loads of water poured over me. They always seem
to do that before I go to a show and it is really annoying because it takes
a great deal of puddles to get my coat in the condition I like.
They seemed to enjoy themselves,
especially when I got a second place in my class, but I got a bit
bored because I was in my cage for most of the day. I suppose it wasn't too
bad because I was able to get a bit of sleeping in between the walking up
and down and standing still stuff. I did get a few extra treats as well so
the day wasn't a total loss.

Today I was taken
to yet another show which was held in an arena which horses use. There were
loads and loads of really great smells and I had great fun sniffing all over
the place. In between that I had to do a bit of work for Mum and made her
happy by winning the BT Junior class, Best of Breed and coming runner up in
the Best Puppy in group. Mum was happy because she was given three rosettes,
a cup and a silver plate. I was happy because my girl went and bought me a
new toy which is great fun and I had loads of my favourite treats. I had a
good day even though I thought I was missing out because my boy went for a
walk in a country park near the show and I thought that would have been more
fun. As it turned out I did better by staying with Mum because I got
spoilt rotten. I think I may get to like this showing thing because I get
given so much.

I went somewhere new today, it was the biggest bath I have ever seen and the
water kept moving, I tried to chase it away but it kept coming after me. I
was a bit worried about my family so I ran back to them to look after them.
I loved the sand it was so soft to run on. But it didn’t taste very nice
(well I’m a bull terrier I have to try to eat everything at least once!) I
found some seaweed to play with which was great fun. I wanted to play with
Gilly but he kept running into the sea, I didn’t follow him, my mum called
me a baby.
Well I am only 8 month old. What DOES
she expect!!!

I’m not allowed in the front room on
my own at the moment, I don’t know why when they’ve just put a tree for me
to pull down and loads of sweets and nuts for me to eat in there. I sneaked
in a couple of times when one of the children had left the door open, but my
mum must have radar because as soon as I’m quiet she shouts
"Where’s Rox?" and
somebody finds me. But ha ha I can be quite quick when I want to be and
those sweets taste really good.
Today is
Christmas Day.
Everyone got up early and seemed to be excited about
something, and guess what? I got presents. I had a bone filled with yummy
stuff, a ball with a bell in it and my best present was an orange rubber
crocodile. I like my croc but why did they put so much paper around every
thing and then laugh at me when I was trying to open them? Well little
things please human minds.
Dinner time was
lovely. I got turkey, vegetables and everything. They even tried to make me
wear a hat but that didn’t last long and it didn’t taste too bad either. I
eat everything that’s edible and most things that aren’t. Mum couldn’t
believe I even liked sprouts. I love bananas, oranges, grapes, carrots and
broccoli. I even like celery. So far the only thing I haven’t liked is an
extra strong mint that my dad gave me for a laugh, but I wasn’t laughing, it
was too hot and I kept spitting it out which they thought that was just so
funny.

We went on a really long drive today, but they got me up so early I slept
most of the way. We went all the way to Gloucester so more people could make
a fuss of me. They were “family” and most of them liked me, but I was so
excited I think I was a bit jumpy for some of them. But isn’t Christmas for
puppies as well. I was ok though I had my crate so when I had enough of the
fuss I went to sleep. Funny how they always think I’ve had enough when it’s
their dinner time! That’s when I could show them my best tricks, like how I
can jump up to the dinner table and how fast I can run with food in my
mouth!!
The next day I
thought we were going home but we went somewhere new. It was another show,
this time at a place called Bath, but there wasn’t any water. I met some
Bull Terriers I hadn’t seen before and also my grandad so I got to see
“family “ too. I was in Bull Terrier puppy and I came first, then I was
picked best puppy in breed but was the only one in the class but I still got
a rosette for it. Then I had to go in best puppy of group and guess what? I
won that too. That’s the first time I’ve done that well, we had to go back
the next day for best puppy in show. It was very exciting I didn’t win but
I got a lovely big dog fleece a voucher for some dog food my mum got £10 and
a beautiful big pink rosette.

I
am not feeling too well at the moment. I am having my first season so I need
lots more cuddles with Mum. They are trying to be nice to me but I am happy
in my bed having a rest. I don't even try and bark at the blue animal at the
moment.
Have
I told you about the "Blue Animal". Well it spends most of its time sleeping
but it does come out once or twice a day. It has a really long thin tail
which they stick into the wall. It doesn't like that because it screams non
stop. They walk it around and it eats everything in sight. If I leave any of
my food on the floor or bits off my toys, it eats it all, every last piece.
I did try to play with it once but it chased me into my bed so I don't
bother any more. I think it's an American breed because it has an American
sounding name - Hoover.

I went for a walk today to get some Geocaches
with Mum & Dad. Geocaches are
like letterboxes but they are hidden all
over the country and you have to find
them using a GPS receiver.
When we find one there are little gifts in them
that you swap with something you have brought with you. There’s never any
doggie treats though, but Mum usually has some in her
pocket.
Any way then we had a lovely walk in the woods by a river
and there were so many great smells. I
wanted to go in the river but my Dad said it was
too cold. I wouldn’t have minded I could have cuddled right up to him to get
dry afterwards. I had a really big surprise
because when we were almost back
to the car there was a lovely Bull Terrier puppy
walking with his family. We stopped to talk to him,
he was 4 months old and called Bodger and it turns out he’s my
uncle.
We had fun playing together and Bodgers dad and my
Dad both took photos. Mine is
in my album.

I have been doing lots more shows this summer and it
is good fun. I enjoy doing them because Mum gets quite pleased when I work
properly and she gets a ribbon thingy. I'm not sure why she likes them so
much because I tried one and they don't taste that good. The best thing
about going to a show is that we usually go for a nice walk afterwards to
somewhere new. My favorite so far was when we were at Wadebridge and we
went to Polzeath afterwards. We had a nice walk along the coast path and
found a beach where I was allowed to go and I had a great time in the sea. I
love the sea, it doesn't taste too good but I try to find seaweed to play
with which is great fun.

My family were not very happy recently when one of my big
"People Brothers" died in an accident. I think he liked me because he always
took me for a walk when we went to see him or he came to our home and he
always said I was a "Cool Dog". He was
only 20 so it was very sad. I went to stay with our friends for a few days
because Mum was very busy.
Here is a picture of Stu, I am sure he will take me
for walks in heaven.

A little while after Stu died, Dad made Mum take me to a
Championship show at Birmingham. I don't think she wanted to go but I tried
really hard to cheer her up and I came 1st in my class. I was also on my
best behavior when I did the Kennel Club Good Citizen Bronze Award test and
passed that as well.
I think I made her
happy because she can now take me to Crufts next year which is what she has
always wanted to do. I don't know what this Crufts thing is but it must be
something good if Mum wants to take me there. It is probably a place with
lots of toys and bones and soft blankets for me to have fun with.
