NINE GOAL THRILLER
ALTARNUN 5-4 ST COLUMB MINOR
Both sides were not at full strength and the conditions were heavy under foot which could have seen the game called off but it went ahead and in a topsy turvey game Altarnun finally triumphed.
Within fifteen minutes of the kick off Minor were in dreamland as they had raced to a three goal lead. Jason Rid scored the first with Dan Tiernan doubling the lead and then Altarnun putting through their own goal. The home side stormed back with Steve Lee and Neil Tryner reducing the arrears before the break. Minor were back in charge after the restart when Ronnie Wright stretched their lead, but they couldn't hold on and Altarnun's late charge saw them come back to win 5-4. Steve Lee headed on for Steve Jasper to put them back in the game, and Lee then levelled from the penalty spot, the winner came cruelly from a Minor defender who put the ball into his own goal.
