DUCHY LEAGUE

RESERVES REACH FINAL

ST MAWGAN RES 1-1 ALTARNUN RES
Altarnun took a two goal lead into this second leg and within 15 seconds of the kick off they were able to put one foot in the Final as they scored their quickest goal of the season.
St Mawgan took the kick off and soon lost possession thanks to a Ian Nicholls clearance Dave Lee then crossed the ball into the penalty area and Steve Lee caught the home defence napping by stealing in to steer the ball past the home 'keeper. The home side were now up against an Altarnun grew in confidence having the majority of the play in the first half, with Dave Lee hitting the crossbar with a speculative lob and Simon Coley heading against a post. Gary Williams was called into action just once and made a good stop to deny a home forward.
The second half was a fairly even affair as Altarnun played up the slope but one high ball lobbed forward caught out the Altarnun defence and St Mawgan saw a life line but despite St Mawgan hitting the crossbar once they failed to score again. Altarnun still had further chances to score but comfortably held on to secure their first ever Final since joining the Duchy League.
