DUCHY LEAGUE
ANOTHER WEAK 2-3 DEFEAT
STOKE CLIMSLAND 3-2 ALTARNUN
For the second week running Altarnun let a half time lead of 2-1 slip into a 3-2 defeat against a team a lot lower in the league.
Altarnun started comfortably enough not allowing Stoke much possession but with Stoke packing out their defence Altarnun were often restricted to long range shooting which was often wayward. Stoke did manage to break on occasions and scored against the run of play through James Wing. Altarnun did get an equaliser soon afterwards when Steve Lee blocked a clearance before hitting home a low shot which took a slight deflection past the home 'keeper. Steve Lee then made the second Altarnun goal when he crossed for James Colwill to slot past the Stoke 'keeper from close range.
The match continued in much the same way in the second half with Stoke relying on breakaway attacks, but it was from a corner that Stoke drew level as the ball came through a group of players and found a Savage unmarked and he shot home. Altarnun continued to press forward but failed to create many clear cut openings as the home side packed their defence and Altarnun left themselves more exposed at the back and Stoke duly scored albeit aided by a defensive slip through Rob Pridham.
