DUCHY LEAGUE

FINAL VICTORY SECURES THIRD SPOT

ST TEATH 1-3 ALTARNUN
Altarnun's final match saw win the three points which enabled them to clinch third position in the table.
Both sides played some neat attractive football on the good playing surface and although chances were created neither side could muster the opening goal in the first half.
Early in the second half though Altarnun the lead when after a goalmouth scramble Steve Luscombe poked the ball home from close range, but St Teath soon bounced back with a goal by Ted Meagor headed in from a corner. St Teath already promoted had less to play for than Altarnun so the visitors stepped up their game and carved a good goal, Stuart Cole squared the ball back from the by line for Kevin Cobbledick to rush in and tap over the line. The win was sealed when Jimmy Giles won possession in the middle of the park before playing a lovely ball ahead of Steve Jasper and he in turn placed the ball beyond the St Teath 'keeper and in off the post
