Opposite is one of the pottery stalls called `Past Presents` which makes authentic medieval pottery. Not only did I buy some gorgeous drinking beakers (which I've got some wine in as I write this!) but I also came away with some good advice on protecting the home! I couldn't help but notice that many of the stallholders had posters of the Wheel of the Year and the Celtic Tree calendar on display.....

Stalls and Tents selling everything from homemade flavoured fudge to medieval weaponry spilled out across the grounds and filled both enormous Barns. Both of the Barns were built in the Thirteenth Century and although both have been somewhat rebuilt over the years, retain many of their original features. There was certainly something of a magical atmosphere in the air, seeing so many people wandering around in costume - it could have been a time-slip!
At one point we went for a bit of an explore around the grounds. This seems to be one of the popular fayres of the year, with many visitors opting to camp overnight as well as the stallholders. There is a Tudor style garden that was re-created in the mid-nineties, on the site of the original garden.
The costumes were just amazing and the traders cater for all ages and periods from roman to 17th century. I found some lovely period cloths but wasn't able to buy them, The price for the cloths weren't to bad but they didn't take card. advise for anyone wanting to go to these event is if you want to buy anything like cloths take cash. a lot of the traders took switch solo or credit card and all to check but we didn't know before we left and unfortunately for us it was the traders we wanted to buy from that didn't take plastic.

for women's garments the best trader for quality and price was Anne Laverick, the cloths were really well made and £50 a garment. she can be contacted at annelaverick@aol.com .

We found two other reasonable clothes traders one being sally green. and the other being Susan Fever.

Susan Fever makes most of her stuff to order so you can specify what you want but the sally green cloths are made in larger quantities. you can get party gowns from sally green but you will have to contact her. click on her name and it will take you to her site.

The picture to the left is of one of the many armory's at the event. this particular tent belongs to white rose armory. They produce a very high quality of Armour but you have to pay for it. They are cheaper to buy from at events but if your look for them there are cheaper armory's.

I use the www.paladin-armoury.com its a German site and the Armour is good quality. the only problem is having to send an iban but its worth it.
