Bat -- Blood Bat -- Bloody Bat -- Evil Head -- Faith Bat -- Poison Bat
Covering over 100 species, "bat" is an extremely broad category of mammal - in fact, there are so many differences between the two main groups (microbats and megabats) that they may have evolved seperately. Despite being mostly harmless to humans, bats have a sinister reputation - as indicated by FF1's bats, which are just there to hang around caves and temples looking sinister.

Based on the vampire bat - or, rather, the myths surrounding them. In reality, vampire bats are extremely small - they have an average wingspan of 8 inches - and feed by nipping an animal's skin and licking, rather than sucking. The common vampire bat feeds mainly on livestock.
Bram Stoker added to vampire bat myths when he gave Dracula the ability to turn into a bat - being found in Mexico, Central and South America, vampire bats never influenced European vampire legends until then.

Nope, real bats aren't poisonous. You can file that one under "Square creation". The faith bat's name could be a reference to its weakness to the "holy" element.
