Scarborough Airsoft Club

Scarborough Airsoft Club is a group of people who take part in an activity similar to that of Paintball. The main difference are the weapons, called Airsoft guns. These are full scale replicas of real firearms, which shoot non-lethal 6mm solid plastic ball-bearings (BB's).

The guns range from Spring powered pistols to Automatic Electric Guns (AEG's) which are capable of firing over 15 rounds per second. Unlike their Paintball counterparts, the electric gun series use rechargeable batteries, instead of bulky gas filled cylinders. Ammunition is also a fraction of the cost.

What to Bring

Caution

Although exclusively using airsoft guns, safety and responsibility are of paramount importance. Failure to act in accordance with Safety procedures or the Law, could result in a loss of membership.

It must be noted, the Airsoft guns used are all replicas of real firearms. Under the Firearms Laws, replicas must not be carried openly in public areas. Guns may only be loaded within the site boundaries and only fired in specific areas. When a game is in progress, all players, marshals and spectators must wear eye protection. When not gaming, all magazines must be removed and safety catches applied.

Gaming Philosophy

Unlike commercial Airsoft sites, S.A.C promotes Airsoft as a Hunting Sport rather than a War Recreation Activity. As such, games involve more stalking and observation than firefighting. The activity is not portrayed as realistic combat, instead it is simply a sport. No players are "killed", instead they are "tagged".

Games emphasise fieldcrafts, including map reading, camouflage and concealment, patrol technique, marksmanship, camp craft and evasion. Team and individual skills are of equal importance. A further aim is to minimise the cost and therefore increase access to the sport.
