Which Gun For Me? |
Think about the way you intend to game, using your new gun? If you already game, what style do you use? Listed below are style categories and recommended AEG's to fulfil the role. |
This style of play is aggressive and uses speed to try and seize the advantage. When adopting this style, the player should attack and manoeuvre, trying to win the firefight. Pushing back the opposition whenever possible. |
This style of play requires a player to stand off behind the Assault team and lay down lots of either full auto bursts or continuos semi. Positioning is important, always keep within range of the team or support fire is ineffective. Often this player does not actually claim many tags, but his real value is the ability to pin an opponent while a team-mate flanks round to get the tag. |
When gaming with this style, slow cautious movement is the norm. Often long periods are spent prone. Detecting the enemy is the main objective, therefore a scope is important. Stealth and patience are two disciplines that need to be perfected. Only fire if the shot is odds on for a tag. Firepower is not an issue but accuracy is, a large bulky gun is not necessarily an advantage. |
If the AEG is to act as a backup gun, it should be small and compact. Otherwise it will disadvantage the player when stowed. If the gun is a second AEG and not really to be carried in game, size is not as much of an issue. Try to buy one that will fulfil a different role to the primary AEG. |
If an AEG is wanted, that could be good in all roles, consider battery, magazine, motor, gearbox and size. Mid size carbines are recommended. |
Customisations |
Remember, guns can be converted in several different ways. Listed below are simple examples. |
This conversion is for AEG's using mini, SD or AK battery packs. Simply change the battery connector, to an industry standard one. Then fit a large battery pack to the exterior of the gun. |
Use a high capacity magazine, cut a large hole in one side of the mag case. Position the hole so it is adjacent to the pellet reservoir. Do similar to a standard spring mag, but ensure the hole is lower down and on the opposite side. Make a hollow block, to go between the two magazines. All that is needed to finish the conversion is a door for the hopper lid. |
This simple conversion allows longer, more encumbering guns to be made more suitable for Assault players. Accuracy can suffer but muzzle velocity should increase. Saw the barrel shroud, but take care with the barrel as burrs left on the cut can cause inaccuracy. If possible, get the barrel turned down on a lathe and add a "crater cut." |

Often these upgrades are fitted to improve power but accuracy can suffer. |
