2004 brief report.

Once again we have had quite a successful year, supporting the fact that we are still one of the most active sections within the sports association.

Apart from our monthly society days held at Clevedon, we have had matches against RNAS Yeovilton. This year we also hosted the South West Championships, in May, when fifty four of the regions best golfers struggled around Clevedon twice on the day.
Our own Brian Lindsay (Speedwell) retained the title he won in Dorset last year, with a two round total of 157, 3 ahead of Dorsets Mark Tutton. Our other successes on the day were Andy Pothecary 2nd best nett, Micky Keepin 3rd best gross, Graeme Watson best morning Stableford score, and the team of Kevin Pearson, Steve Cornish and Andy Pothecary were 3rd best team.

Following on from our success, Brian Lindsay went on to represent England in the Four Nations Competition in Cardiff, where he helped England to win, and won the individual title. Micky Keepin went to Scotland to represent England in the annual England/Scotland match, but unfortunately was on the losing side.

The Brigade Championship took place in appalling weather, but everyone got around ok and seemed to enjoy the challenge. The Champion this year is Mike Parker, with Rick Fear taking the Best Nett trophy. 2nd best gross was awarded to Alan Alvis, with Steve Mankowski third. Jim Britton took 2nd best nett, with Dave Gaydon 3rd.

Next year we are hoping to try a new format for the society days, using a different venue each time. Details of fixtures are being finalised now, and will be published once done.
