Barrasford lies on the North Tyne, nine miles from Hexham, near the city of Newcastle in Northumbria. An attractive village within walking distance of Hadrian's Wall and Chesters Fort with its Roman bath house, the village is only a few miles from Chollerford. Barrasford boasts a traditional public house serving the local community. Most importantly, there is an excellent primary school in the village. A Health Centre and dispensary are well placed in nearby at Humshaugh. The Methodist Church in the village was built in 1877.
