Well it took a while to get there but the results were well worth it. Let me tell you, Jodie is a lovely girl, not only is she a very talented makeup artist but she is a genuinely beautiful person, and by that I mean inside as well as outside.
Talk about hectic though! I guess I should start at the beginning.
When I arrived, never having been to London before, I was as nervous as could be. I found the Boudoir quite easily and eventually found somewhere to park. I walked up there and right past as there were some people outside chatting. Talk about inconvenient ;) Anyway I needed something to drink so I popped into the newsagents for a drink of water. I could hardly speak due to nerves. Anyway I eventually got back and the people outside were gone.
I still felt everyone outside was looking at me and knew exactly what I was doing. Well I was miles from home how could anyone recognise me? So I went up and knocked, Jodie let me in. She was busy with a girl called Michelle who had had her car broken into the night before when at a hotel. Poor Michelle had had jewellery and makeup stolen, but she seemed quite okay about it. She just had to wait for the car to be fixed. No problem as it gave me some time to relax and take in my surroundings. Talk about a treasure trove. I'd love to be locked in that place for the night. Clothes galore and wigs and makeup. Wow, I could live there and be happy girl :)
Well a little later the man came to fix the car and Michelle went home to Cornwall or Devon I think. She seemed very nice but I'm afraid my nerves had once again got the better of me and my voice could hardly be heard. I just didn't know what to talk to her about. Well the makeover began and Jodie put me at my ease, chatting about loads of things. It was so relaxing and lovely to have my makeup done and be talked to about femme things like makeup and hairstyles and clothesl. Wow, what an experience. ( Let me say that I don't think girls just talk about these things :), they're just usually in the girls sphere of conversation.)
Once she had done my makeup she asked if I wanted to have my hair done. Now I have long dark brown hair so I should have said yes as it has always been something I've wanted done. However, one of the reasons for going was to try some wigs on to see what other colours suited me so this time I went for wigs...but next time.
The first one she put on was a short dark wig. When she first put it on I thought "no this is not for me, I really don't like it." Well just to show why Jodie works in makeovers and I don't I actually loved the look once it was on and especially in the photos.
The second wig, slightly longer and slightly red/auburn was gorgeous and I loved it totally especially with that pink/purple dress.
The third wig was my favourite. A gorgeous long blonde wig with a fringe. I really think fringes suit me! Anyway she put it up with some pins and I loved it even more. I think these photos are the best of me ever.
Jodie took all the photos herself for me on my digital camera and I must say she knows how to get you to pose to get the best of you. She must have learnt from her father. Well, due to Michelle's problems Jodie let me stay later to makeup for it all. At no point did I feel pressurised for the time and I ended up leaving at nearly 6 o'clock. Hmm, this is not a good time for a new person to London to leave. Talk about busy! But I must say I drove all the way home with the biggest grin on my face ever. I'm surprised I didn't get pulled over and breathalised for excessive smiling!
Well, after this and some of the things Jodie had said I knew it was definitely time to take my first steps into the big bad world and go to the Fox and Hounds. 6 weeks later I was there...
