Transliving 25/01/2008

Blimey I look a bit pale and psychotic!Blimey, I guess I have gone out this year! I went to Transliving in Chelmsford. Unfortunately I forgot my camera and so the pic you see was taken by Kerry. Also in the pic is Nicola.

Now I wasn't too sure what I was expecting, I've only really been to a few tranny places and I guess the Fox is pretty hard to live upto as it was such a great place and I knew lots of people there.

Going to Transliving was pretty nerve racking I can tell you. I knew no one there and although I'd been reassured that people were friendly... well my personal demons were out to make me nervous! Would I be left in a corner all alone, Miss Billy No Mates! I'm sure most people think the same? Don't you? Jeez, it's just me isn't it!

Well, whilst getting ready (the changing places at Transliving are pretty good, especially compared to the Fox and Hounds!) I started rabbiiting on to a lady there who I thought I'd read about on their forum...and I was right... anyway, she'd never been anywhere before and so was even more nervous than I was... so I guess I talked AT her whilst we got ready... ooops... luckily I didn't scare her off! Well, she went in a lot earlier than me as it takes me forever to get ready and she was already half way done when I arrived! BTW, I found the shared changing rooms better than the disabled loo... the lighting is better, it's warmer and the mirror is at my height.

Anyway by the time I was ready the place seemed to be getting busy, although Stacey (one of the organisers) said it was a pretty quiet night! Kerry started chatting to me early in the evening and introduced me to Nicola and her wife and we chatted a fair bit and they invited me to sit with them.

I guess not being used to the place I didn't really know what was going on... I saw a few faces I recognised from the forum but never really got chance to say hello. I found that conversation with anyone not directly next to you was a bit hard as the music was very loud!! HA!! Me saying the music was too loud. I later found out that most people go near the bar to talk as it's a good deal quieter so maybe next time I'll try that.

Anyway, all in all I will try Transliving again, maybe hang around by the bar more. Next months is meant to be a big Goth photoshoot and also a masked ball... hopefully I'll feel better by then as I've come down with some kind of bug at the moment! I think trying any place new is a big step and after so long my nerves were quite tight... next time I hope to be better.

Funny thing that happened on the way home though :) Made me laugh anyway. I got changed to go home at around 11.30 as I knew I'd probably be up early in the morning with our daughter. Anyway, when I got to my car I found it boxed in by some kind of catering van!! So I went to find out who's it was. Asked around inside and they pointed me to the kitchens which I went into and explained what the problem was. They were only too happy to move the van but seemed astounded that I'd just walked through the room with all the trannies in and didn't seem at all bothered!!! (they were nothing to do with Tranliving) It was only after that it dawned on me that they thought I was just a member of the public and not a tranny... LOL. Not that tranny's aren't members of the public as well!
