Before the start of the Capital One Bowl, the Auburn Tigers who were No 7 in the rankings were heavy favourites to beat the Wisconsin Badgers, No 21. We found ourselves sitting on the Auburn side of the field. Auburn were designated as the home team and therefore the pregame and halftime shows were angled towards us. Both marching bands paraded before kickoff.

The Auburn Tigers' Marching Band. Waaaaar Eagle...

Auburn received the ball first but were unimpressive in the first quarter which included Auburn QB Brandon Cox getting intercepted by Wisconsin cornerback Levonne Rowan and RB Kenny Irons fumbling the ball away.

Wisconsin had their own troubles when their kicker sailed one left from 53 yards.

Things were about to get a lot better for Wisconsin. On their third drive RB Brian Calhoun broke a 27 yard play. This set up QB John Stocco for a 30 yard Touchdown strike to WR Brandon Williams.

Auburn again were forced to punt, but the Punter's hard work was undone when on the very next play Brian Calhoun broke a 60 yard rush all the way to the Auburn 13 yd line.

The Auburn defence took a stand and despite three rushing attempts from inside the 2 yd line, Brian Calhoun could not cross the stripe. Wisconsin settled for a 19 yd Mehlhaff FG.

After another Auburn punt, John Stocco again looked impressive as he lead the Wisconsin on an 86 yd drive that was capped by a 13 yd TD to WR Owen Daniels.

The only other excitement in the first half was when Auburn’s starting Right Tackle Troy Reddick started a big fight and tossed his helmet. This caused him to get ejected from the game.

The Auburn fans we were sitting with were very unhappy with the play of their QB and RB that led to them trailing by 17 and being shutout going into half.
