Congragulations the senior fours of Matt Mitchell, Clive Bingham, Paul Dawes, Mark Mitchell and Callum Paine on being the South Coast Senior open Champions.

South Coast Championships Swanage

The end of the coastal season was coming to the end only one regatta left the championships.

After weeks of hard training the juniors mens crew of Andy Welling, Ashley Cahill, Nick and Phil Mccory took to the Swanage waters, giving it their all to take 3rd place in the junior open event. The junior ladies four of Rebecca Dawes, Jemma Cropper, Jenny Rayner, George Washington and Hannah Dixon(cox) took on a difficult heat where they managed to qualify for the final, but came home in a disapointing 6th place. The veteran fours of Steve Hopkins, Steve Bickers, Glen Paine, Dave Jones and Callum Paine (cox) lead from the start but got the 1st position stolen from them right on the line by Southsea. Hopes were high for the senior open race where Matt and Mark Mitchell teamed up with Paul Dawes and Clive Bingham with Callum Paine steering. Training sessions before just seemed to get better and better which built there confidence to a high level. Bexhill breezed through the heat, and at last it was the final. Bexhill took the lead straight off the start and had a comfortable lead for most of the race. About 50 strokes to go Shoreham started to push them but a quick decision by Matt taking up the rating resulted in bexhill winning the Senior mens open four event by 1/2 a canvas over rivals Shoreham.
