Three minutes later Eagles Tom Brown put the game beyond Sunderlands reach with a back hand shot that found its target , assisted by Paul Windridge and John Aisbett.A penalty free second period closed Chiefs 3 Eagles 7.
THIRD PERIOD
The third period scoring opened at 19 seconds with a goal from Eagles captain Paul Windridge assisted by Andy Fletcher .Chiefs Paul Potts scored at 50:09 assisted by Graeme Johnson to take the Chiefs within four goals of the Eagles . Chiefs collected a consolation goal at 54:40 when Michael Bowman scored assisted by Andrew Tindale and Stuart Potts , the third was another penalty free period closing the match Sunderland Chiefs 5 : Billingham Eagles 8.
After the match John Rogers the Eagles coach said " the team was starting to gell , some people skated better with different people and it was a matter of finding who played well together and woking from there".
