FIRST PERIOD

A short benched Eagles team started the first period in fine style finding the target after only 47 seconds with a goal from Martin Lewis assisted by Liam Thompson and Ian Richardson,second Eagles goal came under 5 minutes later when at 5:38 Martin Lewis got his second of the night assisted by Paul Windridge , 2 minutes later saw Paul Windridge score Eagles third at 7:43. The goals were flowing when at 8:23 Liam Thompson netted Eagles fourth assisted by David Mclean at this point the Eagles bench was increased by Gary Dowd , Andy Fletcher , Brian Perry and Tom Brown who arrived late .Sunderland got off the mark at 12:30 when Stuart Potts scored assisted by Michael Bowman , Andrew Tindale gave Chiefs their second for the night assisted by Michael Bowman.Billinghams Ian Richardson picked up a 2 minute x check penalty at 13:33 this was played off without loss. Eagles Martin Lewis and Chiefs Stuart Weaver picked up 2 min coincidental penalty's at 18:54 and Eagles Gary Dowd picked up a 10 minute penalty for dissent / throwing his stick at 18:54 the first closed , Chiefs 2 Eagles 5 .

 

SECOND PERIOD

The second started without incident until Chiefs and the Eagles traded goals at 31:22 and 31:41 ,Chiefs Andrew Tindale scored and Eagles Tom Brown assisted by David Mclean to make it Chiefs 3 Eagles 5 .Gary Dowd blasted the Eagles to six goals with a well placed slap shot from the point assisted by Paul Windridge and Ian Richardson . Three minutes later Eagles Tom Brown put the game beyond Sunderlands reach with a back hand shot that found its target , assisted by Paul Windridge and John Aisbett.A penalty free second period closed Chiefs 3 Eagles 7.

 

THIRD PERIOD

The third period scoring opened at 19 seconds with a goal from Eagles captain Paul Windridge assisted by Andy Fletcher .Chiefs Paul Potts scored at 50:09 assisted by Graeme Johnson to take the Chiefs within four goals of the Eagles . Chiefs collected a consolation goal at 54:40 when Michael Bowman scored assisted by Andrew Tindale and Stuart Potts , the third was another penalty free period closing the match Sunderland Chiefs 5 : Billingham Eagles 8.

After the match John Rogers the Eagles coach said " the team was starting to gell , some people skated better with different people and it was a matter of finding who played well together and woking from there".
