BJ Card Counter can be run from this web site or from your home computer. The advantage of the latter is that once the program has been downloaded to your hard disk the images load faster.

• web site: The applet is available here.
• home: Download this zip file, which is simply a downsized mirror of this web site, decompress it and load index.html on your web browser. You can also use java's appletviewer by typing appletviewer applet.html at a command prompt.

When started, the BJ Card Counter applet waits for the user to select one of the following options:

• Game > New shuffle: If a game is not already in progress, this option selects the number of decks (1, 2, 4 or 6) to be displayed to the user, reinitializes counts, shuffles the cards and begins to display them. If a game is already in progress, this action does nothing.
• Game > End current: Ends the current card display iteration.
• Game > Show count : Selects or deselects the option of displaying card count information:
  • card value : Each card has an assigned card value which varies with the count system used. The default count system is the Omega II count developed by Bryce Carlson.
  • running count : The running count is the sum of all successive card values. The higher the number, the better it is for the BJ player.
  • true count : Equal to the running count divided by the number of remaining decks. Calculated in order to standardize the count on one full deck. Also known as "count per deck".
• Game > Change count system : Changes the default count system, Omega II (Bryce Carlson), to another user-defined count system.
• Game > Repeat last : Repeats the last card display iteration.
• Game > Quit : Exits the applet.
• Help > Home page : Loads the BJ Card Counter web page in the current internet browser window.
• Help > Online Manual : Loads this web page in the current internet browser window.
• Help > About : Displays information about BJ Card Counter.

To control the speed of the card displays, use the scroll bar at the top of the applet.
