STEVE PALMER

Steve is perhaps best known for his two science-fiction novels, "Memory Seed" (Orbit 1996) and "Glass" (Orbit 1997). These ecological future-fables deal with the theme of environmental decay and humanity's part in destructive behaviour. "Memory Seed" is available from all good bookshops but "Glass", alas, sold out and can only be found second-hand...

Steve is the man behind ambient psychedelicists Mooch, who since their appearance in 1992 have released five CD's - "Postvorta" (1993), "3001" (1994), "Starhenge" (1995) and "In Search of the Acid Metal Grille" (1998). "Flight of the Dub Voyager", though recorded in 1996, had to wait four years to find itself on CD. The new album "Gaiaspace" is to be released on the Dead Earnest record label during winter 2000. Mooch are a generally a downtempo band, but have recently been flirting with the dreaded drumkit. Influences include Ozric Tentacles, The Orb, Brian Eno, etc.
