Visit Historic Lincoln Cathedral
The site of the city dates back to Celtic times, and in 47AD the Romans took over and developed it into a very important settlement called Lindum Colonia. In the 9th and 10th centuries, it was a Danish borough. During the middle ages, Lincoln was a very prosperous commercial city.
The city also has a Castle, founded in 1068 by William the Conqueror, medieval city gates, and a museum with an extensive archaeological collection, and the Usher Art Galley, a treasure trove of wonderful objects. Lincoln has many other buildings of historic importance.
The reason for this particular page is, that although I was born in Thurnscoe a mining village in the MBC of Barnsley , and like any other yorkshireman, proud of his birthright, most of my informative life was spent in Lincoln. This is where I met and married Margaret, the love of my life, and both of our children Nicola, & Simon were born there. Many years later my work required us to move to Warwick where we still live today.
