With Botero against Portugal
2003-06-05

Mauro CuéllarJoaquin Botero will after all be playing for Bolivia in the friendly match against Portugal on June the 10th in Lisbon, after his new club, Mexican Pumas UNAM, agreed with the Bolivian Football Federation(FBF) to let the ex-Bolívar forward join the national team. The president of Bolívar, Mauro Cuéllar, and the players of the La Paz based club all met at Tembladerani yesterday to discuss the national team and the wages. The players have only been payed a small percentage of their wages these last three months, and now they wanted Cuéllar to be honest. Some players also wanted him to change his mind about keeping players from joining the national team for the friendly against Portugal. It was a tense meeting, which ended with Cuéllar saying:
- Those who want to play in the national team, can leave now!
Cuéllar left Tembladerani and the doors open for the players to leave.

2003-06-04

Nelson AcostaThe Bolivian Football Federation(FBF) announced yesterday that Uruguayan Nelson Acosta, who took Chile to the World Cup 1998, might be the Bolivian national teams new coach very soon. Acosta and the FBF will meet today in Cochabamba to negociate the contract. Acosta, currently coaching Chile's Cobreloa, turned down offers from Argentinean clubs San Lorenzo and Gimnasia y Esgrima de La Plata, to instead take on a longterm job. Daniel Córdoba was on the FBF's wishlist, and he was to meet with the FBF in Santa Cruz yesterday, but he never showed up.
