A new Ziggy CD... at last! Many of you may well have "some" of this material already on other "pressed" bootlegs... well trust me you haven't got it like this! Previously the Old Grey Whistle Test material has been available in "very good" quality on pressed discs however they all have been taken from the various repeat broadcasts over the years and are not complete... they all have the beginning and end of the songs either cut or faded in / out to take out the TV presenter... not here 100% complete. Not only that, the quality of every single track (bar the first 30 second take of 'Queen Bitch') is utterly flawless. These recordings are directly from the master tapes. The first take of 'Queen Bitch' has NEVER been broadcast and the quality of this is slightly less than the others but still excellent.

Next up is 'Starman' which was performed on Lift Off! Unfortunately the TV company has wiped the tape so the only available source is a recording made at the time... not superb quality but very listenable.

Now we move on to the legendary performance of Starman from Top Of The Pops... what can be said about this other than its history in the making! The quality of this is again utterly flawless and it's here for the first time 100% complete, unlike other times it has been released on "pressed" CDs. Now we have Bowie's performance of 'The Jean Genie' on TOTP. This particular recording has never surfaced before in trading circles nor has it ever appeared on any pressed CD. Again quality is not perfect as it's taken from a recording made at the time of broadcast, but its appearance proves that Bowie performed this on the show probably on 28th December 1972. For more information on this track I suggest you take a look at Mike Harvey's excellent Ziggy site at http://www.5years.com/tjgtotp.htm

Lastly we have Bowie's appearance on the Russell Harty show in January 1973. David was interviewed and performed 'My Death' and 'Drive In Saturday' on the show. Again the TV company has now wiped the tape of the original broadcast so the recording of My Death here is was taken from the time of the actual broadcast. However this version of the recording is superior to the one that appears on the Heaven Or Maybe Hell CD. Although the TV company wiped the original recording of this classic show they still have a Russell Harty Christmas Special show that includes an interview clip and the complete Drive In Saturday. Copies of this tape have been available to collectors for a number of years now, but the majority have tracking problems halfway through Drive In Saturday (which was done on purpose by the person who let it out). It was one of these faulty tapes was used by the people who did the Axeman Cometh CD and so there is a "wobbly" version of Drive In on there. The version on this CD is direct from the master and therefore perfect.

So there you have it... all of Bowie's "Ziggy" appearances on one disc. New and unreleased material and others in far superior quality than has ever got out before... to say that this disc is essential is an understatement!
