Sheffield Accordion Club exists to promote the playing of, and interest in piano accordion, button accordion, concertina and other free reed instruments.
MEETINGS
We meet on the Third Tuesday of the month at the Polish Ex-Servicemens Club, Dover Road, Sheffield, South Yorkshire UK from 7.45 p.m. until 10.30 p.m. and visitors are warmly welcome, whether playing or listening.
The format of the evening includes
Small group practise or interest groups
Folk Dance Band playing
Jazz and Accompaniment
Duet/Trio playing
Individual tuition for beginners
Specific help for players
Group playing practise
Instruction or demonstration of a requested accordion topic
Interval and notices
Individual Solo work
Each year, we also aim to book two or three guest artistes or bands (often from abroad) to give a concert in the first half of the evening
A number of accordion teachers and professional musicians are members of the club so expert help and advice is always available.
Douglas Fellowes
It is with sadness and regret we have to announce the passing away of Douglas Fellowes on Friday, 21st February,2003
Doug has been a lifelong musician, teacher, competition judge, trade unionist and keen supporter of all aspects of
accordion music throughout the North of England. He was a founder member and Chairman of Barnsley Accordion Club and was
sometime bandleader of Sheffield Accordion Club, where he was a life member.He was well known at all the Accordion Festivals
and he constantly encouraged everyone to join in playing band music in parts.
Doug will be sadly missed by everyone.
