Berkhamsted Town Ladies FC

Originally called Hemel Hempstead LFC, the club is now in its 18th year. Probably the most difficult year in its history was the first in 1980, when with only 2 months to the start of the season, the club had only a few players and little money or equipment and no ground. But within a short period of time a team had been recruited and sufficient funds had been raised to run the club. The club grew to become one of the strongest in the region and in 1992 the club won the Eastern Region Championship and joined the FA Premier League, Southern Division. The arrival of a new manager, Steve Emmanuel, in 1993 saw the team go from strength to strength. In 1994 the club joined with Berkhamsted Town FC of the Isthmian League Division 1 and changed its name to Berkhamsted and Hemel and again in 1995 to Berkhamsted Town. Season 96-97 saw the team win the Championship of the FA Women's Premier League Southern Division, having narrowly missed out on promotion in the previous two seasons, and earned the right to play in the National Division. Last season the club experienced a taste in the "Top Flight" and is looking forward to a challenging year ahead in the Northern Division, The club is also lucky to continue it's sponsorship with RHWL (Renton, Howard, Wood, Levin) Partnership, the top architects, planners and designers.
