Bird Sightings for July 2003 |

| July 28th: This morning over
Wadebridge up to 35 Common Swifts were counted,
getting ready for their journey south. July 27th: In the Dinham Flats area the following were noted, 15 Little Egret, three Common Sandpiper, two Ringed Plover, 15 Dunlin, one Common Greenshank, five Common Redshank, eight Whimbrel, 671 Eurasian Curlew, 104 Oystercatcher, 55 Canada Goose, 15 Mallard, 52 Mute Swan and the Black Swan. A Eurasian Sparrowhawk was watched hunting along the road between Tregunna and Tredale. July 23rd: A Hobby was noted hawking over Bridgeview, Wadebridge this morning. The same, (or another), was noted in the evening at Trevilling Marsh. On Dinham Flats up to ten Little Egret were present and a single Common Greenshank.
July 15th: Today in the Dinham area the following were observed, a juvenile Mediterranean Gull, eight Canada Goose, 19 Little Egret, one Black Swan, two Common Greenshank, eight Whimbrel and 41 Mute Swan. At Tredale Farmhouse a Spotted Flycatcher was watched hawking insects. July 14th: An evening walk out to Greenaway Point produced three Mediterranean Gulls, (Juvenile and two 1st summers), single Northern Gannet and Northern Fulmar, 22 Eurasian Shag, a Common Whitethroat and a family of Common Stonechat. A Common Kingfisher was present today at Guineaport. July 13th: Little Egret numbered 25 today, other species noted included 40 Common Redshank, seven Common Greenshank, one Common Gull and 2, adult, Mediterranean Gull. A Eurasian Sparrowhawk was noted today at Coronation Park, Wadebridge. July 12th: Colin reported today 46 Common Redshank, one Common Gull, five Common Greenshank, two Common Sandpiper, 20 Little Egret and a Kittiwake. July 10th: Today the following species were recorded; two Green Sandpiper, six Common Sandpiper, one Whimbrel, four Dunlin, four Mediterranean Gull, one juvenile Common Gull, two Common Greenshank and seven Common Redshank. (CS) July 7th: A 2nd summer Mediterranean Gull was the only one of its species reported today, other species included three Dunlin, four Common Greenshank, single Ringed Plover and Common Sandpiper, five Common Redshank and 350 Eurasian Curlew. (CS) July 5th: Eight Mediterranean Gull, (four 1st summer, two 2nd summer and two adult) were observed today. Other species included 19 Black-tailed Godwits, three Grey Plover, two Sandwich Tern, two Northern Lapwing and a Greylag Goose. (CS) July 3rd: Three Common Sandpiper, eight Dunlin, four Common Greenshank and three Black-tailed Godwits reported today. (CS). At Rock a single Common Tern was present as was four Sandwich Tern and two adult Mediterranean Gulls. In the sand dunes a Grasshopper Warbler was heard reeling.(A Rose-coloured Starling was reported in a garden by a non-birder who asked for the information not to be leaked to the birdlines). July 1st: Seven Mediterranean Gulls were noted today, (two 1st summer, two 2nd summer and 3 adult), as were five Dunlin. (CS) |
