This page contains up to date information of all bird sightings within the Camel Estuary Area and its immediate environs.

The sightings below are mainly my own or from Colin Selway, all others are credited to the observer and are unchecked.

August 17th;

 

CAMEL ESTUARY; One Curlew Sandpiper was on Dinham Flats today as was nine Greenshank, six Common Sandpiper and 169 Oystercatcher. Two Peregrine Falcon were also noted hunting in the area.

CLAPPER MARSHES; Four Green Sandpiper, five Common Sandpiper, three Teal and eleven Moorhen were present today.

WADEBRIDGE; 176 House Martins were counted on wires at Guineaport today.

 

August 14th;

 

PENTIRE/RUMPS POINT; Four Sooty Shearwater past this morning, 0800 to 0900. Single Balearic and 850 Manx Shearwater were also noted.

CLAPPER MARSHES; Four Green Sandpipers, five Sand Martins, 50 House Martin and four adult and seven young Moorhen were present today.

WADEBRIDGE; Two Sand Martins flew over the town late evening.

 

August 12th;

 

PITYME; An unconfirmed report of four STORKS flying over the village early afternoon. Although the jizz was right, the birds were very high and the observer did not have his binoculars.

 

August 11th;

 

CAMEL ESTUARY; A Little Egret was at Wadebridge this morning as was the Muscovy Duck.

 

August 10th;

 

CAMEL ESTUARY; A single Hobby was watched over Trevilling Marsh.

 

August 9th;

 

CAMEL ESTUARY; At the Burniere Hide, 13 Greenshank were noted, also present were nine Ringed Plover, six Dunlin, one Green Sandpiper, two Common Sandpiper, six Redshank and a Whimbrel. A Little Egret was present at Wadebridge early morning.

CLAPPER MARSHES; Six Green Sandpipers were present today as was five Common Sandpiper, two Teal, four Heron, one Kingfisher and four adult and four juvenile Moorhen.

WADEBRIDGE; A Sparrowhawk was watching hunting over the town.

 

August 8th;

 

WADEBRIDGE; A WHITE STORK was watched circling over the town at 1750. It drifted off towards Bodmin. At the Two Trees Estate, a Lesser Whitethroat was noted in a garden this morning. Four Buzzards were watched over the town this afternoon.

CLAPPER MARSHES; 18 Mallard, one Sand Martin, 35 Swallow and three Buzzards were noted this evening.

AMBLE MARSHES; A Little Ringed Plover was present this evening.

 

August 5th;

 

PENTIRE/ RUMPS POINT; Eight Cory's Shearwater and a single Sooty Shearwater were noted this morning, also 56 Storm Petrels were counted.

 

August 3rd;

 

PENTIRE/ RUMPS POINT; A single Sooty Shearwater past this morning together with 300 Manx Shearwater, four Arctic Tern, 60 Kittiwake and a Storm Petrel.

 

August 1st;

 

CAMEL ESTUARY; 16 Greenshank, two Common Sandpiper, three Whimbrel, two Stock Dove, a Great Spotted Woodpecker and a Cuckoo was noted at the Burniere Hide today.
