THE ESTUARY

The Camel Estuary is situated on the North Coast of Cornwall, England. It stretches 7 miles from Wadebridge in the east to Stepper Point and Hayle Bay in the west and is a classic example of a ria, (a drowned river valley).

Because of the many habitats it flows through, with sand dunes and bars in the outer estuary; mudflats; wooded creeks and farmland, the animal and plant species are very diverse.
