GARGANEY
Anas querquedula
A passage migrant and probable former breeding species.
A total of 54 individuals have been record from around the estuary with 37 of these since 1992.
| 2003; Two, (one male), April 16th and a female September 11th. |
| 2002; Single female August 29th and a first winter December 6th to 8th. |
| 2001; A female June 28th, a male August 8th and another male September 5th to 7th. |
| 2000; Single birds were noted August 24th, September 7th and September 16th. |
| 1999; Single males March 14th and April 5th to 10th. A maximum of six May 15th with a male July 29th and two males September 7th to 16th. |
| 1998; A male May 14th/15th and a female July 24th to October 12th. |
| 1996; A male June 14th. |
| 1995; Singles males were noted March 25th and May 26th. |
| 1994; A single male May 29th and a female July 28th. |
| 1993; Two females October 9th. |
| 1992; A single female was present July 10th to August 2nd. |
| 1971; Three, (one male), August 9th. |
| 1967; One male March 19th to 23rd. Three birds were noted March 29th. Two, (one male) August 21st. |
| 1966; Singles were noted at Burniere Point on August 23rd and August 27th/28th. |
| 1959; Three males March 28th. Numerous sightings in April with a maximum count of five males and four females. Seven (three pairs and a male) were noted May 1st. A probable female with young June 30th. A minimum of nine birds involved. |

Birds have been noted on the estuary from March 16th, (1999), to December 8th, (2002).
