Historical Events

May 24th 1998

We won 1st place in the Gospel Style competition, in the New Ross Choral Festival.  This was our first competition and was a very exciting win for us.

April 18th 1999

We won first place in the "Michael Van Dessel Choral Festival in Dundalk.   Vincent Whelan our Musical Director also won a very deserved medal for best conductor.   Cappella was nominated from this festival, to compete in the "Choir of the Year" competition, sponsored by "Boyne Valley Honey" at Navan Choral Festival.

May 15th 1999

Special Mass in Killester, Dublin with Fr Dermot Leycock.   The theme for this Mass was "Love and Marriage" we sang "Love changes Everything"  from the musical "Aspects of Love".

June 25th 1999

Olympia Theatre, Dublin.  Cappella had the pleasure of joining The Chieftains on stage, and performed with them, a six part suite based on their Grammy - winning "Long Journey Home" album.

November 13th 1999

We came 4th in the North Wales Choral Festival in Llandudno, Wales, sponsored by Stena Line.

December 23rd 1999

The Arrivals Hall, Dublin Airport.   We sang "Christmas Carols" to welcome people flying in to Dublin for the holidays.

February 11th 2000

The Millennium Festival of Song, Drogheda.

April 1st

Return visit to St. Peter's Church Phibsboro, as guests of St. Vincent dePaul, for their annual fundraising concert.

April 29th

Won first place in the National Competition for Mixed Voice Choirs, at the International Choral Festival in Cork. 

May 8th

CYM Cricket Concert Night.  CYM Badminton Hall, Terenure.   Featured Soloists were Fiona Murphy, Brian Hoey and Philip Byrne.

May 27th

Evening Mass in Killester, Dublin.   This Mass celebrated the marriages in Killester Parish over the previous year.

September 10th

Recital in Irish National Museum, Collins Barracks to celebrate Heritage Week.
