RIVER OUSE-THE DRIFT.

THE DRIFT ( RIVER OUSE)The Drift section of the River Great ouse is located close to Eaton Socan Cambridgeshire.

Access directions are as follows:

Fro the A1 at Wyboston, take the road to Eaton Socon. Just after the Bell public house, turn into Howards Road (Industrial Estate), with the gate to the Gingerbread Lake / links / The Drift complex on the first left hand bend.

THE DRIFT (RIVER OUSE)Roach are the predominant species in this section with fish weighing over 1.8lb.

Match weights of Roach are not uncommon.

With bream to 5lb, chub to 4lb, skimmers, huge perch, dace, pike, zander, bleak and gudgeon also present.

Large carp to over 20lb are also present.

Tempsford Waters (River Ouse), Pylon Meadow, School Meadow, Anchor Meadow, The Jungle 100+pegs

These waters have an abundance of species. Roach, Chub, Bream, Tench, Dace, Perch, Pike, Zander, Carp and Barbel. Barbel have been caught to 6lbs from School Meadow. Big nets of Bream to over hundred pounds have been caught from the Jungle and Pylon Meadow, with large nets of Roach exceeding 40lbs been caught from School Meadow, Anchor Meadow and Pylon Meadow. Some huge river Carp to 25lbs+ have also been caught. The Chub average 3lbs but 5lb+ specimens being landed, with perch to 3lbs+ putting in an appearance.

 

Campers Meadow (River Ouse Tempsford) 10 pegs

Entrance via Mr. J. Infield’s private road (no parking) or Church Lane. See map.

Note: Members are not to fish River Ouse bank into Roxton Weir Pool.

All species present, Roach, Bream, Tench, Carp, Chub, Dace, Pike and Zander.

Brampton, (River Ouse) 40 pegs

 

Entrance via River Lane opposite RAF barracks guardhouse. Parking adjacent to River at beginning of stretch in field, see map.

Bream are the dominant species with fish to 8lbs+; skimmers are present during the summer months, along with Roach, Dace, Chub, Perch and Pike.

Beeston Waters, (River Ivel), Dead River, Sandy Mill, The Riddy. 35 pegs

Roach and Dace are the dominant species and match weights regularly exceeding 15lbs with three or four anglers weighing double figures in the same match. Bream weights have exceeded 50lbs+ with fish weighing between 3-5lbs. Huge Chub to 6lbs have been landed with 4-5lb fish regularly caught. Also present are Tench, Rudd, Gudgeon and Perch. Big Pike to 25lb with lots of small “Jacks”. Carp have been caught to 20lbs+ and Barbel has been stocked.

 

Church Meadow and Ouse Farm (River Ivel), Tempsford. 25 pegs

Entrance via stile off Church lane erected for members only. Do not park beyond stile. Do not fish Saw Mill Pool.

All species present, Chub being the dominant species fish to 5lb have been landed, with plenty of 2-4lb. Roach, Dace, Bream and Perch to 3lb. Carp and Pike to double figures, with Barbel also present.

Higher romper (River Ivel), Tempsford. 25 pegs

 

Entrance via footpath continuing from Church Lane or from Twin Bridges on the Blunham Road. Do not park beyond stile in Church Lane.

Chub are the dominant species, with fish to 5lb being caught. Carp reach weights of over 20lbs, with bream averaging 4lbs also present are Roach, Rudd, Tench, Pike. Barbel is thought also to be in residence.

Langford Mill, Shefford Cut &Canal, (River Ivel). 35 pegs

Entrance via Mill Lane, through Mill over wooden Bridge turn left and park on other side of gate. No parking in mill grounds. Three meadows up stream (right hand bank). West bank of Ivel downstream of Mill Pool and upstream of Canal to fence.

Note; Shefford Cut &Canal, these waters are shared with SHEFFORD A/C.

 

Roach are the dominant species, fish to over 2lbs being caught. Nets of 20lbs regularly reported. Other species present are chub to over 5lbs, Bream over 5lbs, Rudd, Dace, Tench, Carp, Perch and Pike.

 

Broom (River Ivel). 15 pegs

Left hand bank upstream above I.P.A. Entrance via Biggleswade R.U.F.C. in Langford Road. Use Rugby Club car park. Do not drive on or around Rugby pitches.

Roach, Bream, Chub, Dace, Carp and Tench are present.

Ivel Protection Association Waters, (River Ivel).

 

Biggleswade common & Back Meadows, Langford Boot Bridge, Broom through to Biggleswade Rec., Sandy New Road, River behind Salutation Pub Blunham. Stotfold.

 

Members may fish all I.P.A. waters.
