Celia's Family History Pages

Welcome to
Celia's Family History Pages

I have been involved in researching my family history since 1985 when I started with my maiden name of Dorée.  Since then I have been researching other branches of my father's family--Reynolds and Quarman; my mother's family--Shaw and Thomas (all based in London) as well as my husband's family--Lacey (Norfolk and London) and that of my daughter-in-law--Reed (Meare in Somerset).

  • Dorée--a Huguenot silk weaving family.  They came to the UK from France c1685 and settled in east London. (Dorée photos)
  • Reynolds-- lived in east London. Occupations include a Scavenger and Matchbox makers.  My earliest Reynolds was born c1838. (Reynolds photos)
  • Quarman--a very poor family who lived in Bethnal Green.  My earliest Quarman was born c1788 and was a Cordwainer (Shoemaker). (Quarman photos)
  • Shaw--My gr-gr-grandfather was born c1796 in America and was a violinist. (Shaw photos)
  • Thomas--not from Wales as I always thought but Limehouse!  Female lines include the names Noad, Buck,  Westbrook, Ayres  (Thomas photos)
  • Lacey--good Norfolk farming stock going back to c1677.
  • Reed--4 generations of Peat Workers living in Meare, Somerset, going back to c1796.

If you would like further details, please click on one of the links (left) to view extracts from my database which are in PDF format.  Because of the Data Protection Act, I have only listed people who are no longer with us.  These are big files so please be patient as they may take a few minutes to download.
