I
am very sorry to inform you that Jacques Martin (the webmaster of this page)
recently died in his sleep. He is much missed by his relatives and friends,
words cannot express the loss I feel as his son – he was a wonderful father and
brilliant companion.
I
would like to keep this page available for as long as possible but it will no
longer be updated. I know that developing these pages gave Jacques great
pleasure and he very much enjoyed corresponding with visitors.
Jacques
was a great lover of France and the French people and as a young man
participated in the D-Day (1944) liberation of France as a Commando, landing on
the Normandy beaches.
Although
I can access Jacque’s email address, I will not be able to answer any queries
about the songs, but if anybody has any general enquiries, you can write to the
usual email address (chansons@lycos.co.uk).
Please write in English, I am afraid my French is very poor.
If
anybody could send in a suitably respectful translation of my sad news, I would
be grateful if you would contact me, as I would like this note to appear on the
website in French.
