Adult Teams The club currently runs the following senior teams: Saturday First XI: Our premier side will still play in Division 4 (First XI’s) of the Sussex Invitation Cricket League having narrowly missed promotion to Division 3 on the last game of the season. The side will be captained again in 2004 by Graham Avinou. The current standard of play has increased steadily over the last few years following the introduction of more ex-colts and new players to the Club. Saturday Second XI: The Second XI will now play in Division 3 (Second XI’s) of the Sussex Invitation Cricket League having successfully gained promotion in 2003. It will be captained by Pete Mansell again in 2004. The side is a mixture of youth and experience, enabling ex first team players to pass their knowledge down to younger players moving up from the colts, who have gained experience from the Third XI. Saturday Third XI: 2003 was the first season in the club’s history that there has been a Saturday Third XI. Under the captaincy of Tony Collins the side played in Division 3 of the West Sussex Cricket League. This gave an opportunity to some of our current Under-16 colts’ team to experience senior league cricket, with assistance from older players. It was decided that, in the interest of youth development, where possible, this team will consist of 6 adults and 5 under 18’s. Tony will captain the team again in 2004. Sunday XI: Our Sunday XI plays friendly matches against opponents in East and West Sussex. Dick Smith will remain as captain for 2004. The team aims to compete well against the opposition, but in a more relaxed environment than league cricket. Sunday Cup Competition: This is a new Sussex Invitation Cricket League that we have entered for in 2004. Once all matches have been played, there will be the quarter finals, semi finals and the final. There are the North, South, and East Zones. We are Team 4 in the South Zone. Evening League: It was captained in 2003 by Graham Avinou. This was an opportunity for our younger members to experience the fast paced 20 overs per side version of the game. Indoor League: During the winter months, our younger players compete in the Worthing & District Indoor League held at Davison Leisure Centre. This started in November 2003.
