SETI Statistics Spreadsheet

30 May 2002. Berkeley have changed their stats page addresses. To change the address for your team edit the data query on the 'web data' page. I will not be making further changes to the spreadsheet.

v1.27 is current

This spreadsheet allows you to monitor the SETI statistics of each member in a SETI team. It shows many statistics including:

The spreadsheet calculates averages over weekly periods, as opposed to the standard SETI stats which are averages since joining. This allows it to reflect weekly changes in each users machine setups.

It also allows building of custom charts, where you select what users you wish to include and what data to present. This helps to give you a clear idea of how each users' setup compares.

When you download this spreadsheet you need to set up your timezone. You also need to update the statistics from the Berkeley web site at least once a week. You only have to click on a button to do this as the spreadsheet contains macros to update.

Some of the spreadsheet operations can take a long time to complete, especially if your team has many members, so you must be patient.

Why the SETI Statistics Spreadsheet?

Since all the data is held in a spreadsheet users are able to add to the spreadsheet in their own way by adding extra formulas or charts which build on the existing data. Also, the SETI statistics spreadsheet contains the full source code for its macros, so if you know VB you can even add extra macros.

Download

If you're interested click below. Current version is v1.27 (31 July 2001)

stats_skz.zip (270k)

There is a USA mirror site for people who have trouble downloading from tripod (check file version before downloading)

The spreadsheet requires Excel 97 or higher

If you want you can look at some example graphs before hand

The spreadsheet has been loaded with data from the Skzdalimit SETI team from 12 September - 18 February 2001. Later I may make seperate history updates available which can be imported into the spreadsheet.

Upgrading

You can upgrade from v1.20 to a later version by exporting all history data from your existing spreadsheet and then importing it into the new spreadsheet. The export/import functions can be found on the config page

Versions 1.24 and above have a group stats page which, to be fully populated, requires extra data that is not recorded by versions 1.23 or lower. Therefore, if you import data from a spreadsheet v1.23 or lower it will take one week of new readings before the group stats page will be populated.

Users whose teams have users whose names contain any quotes (") will not be able to upgrade by exporting and importing the data; they will have to start a new sheet from scratch.
