The absence of both of our regular central defenders, Iain Bailey and Chris Cooper, forced us to reorganise the defence and recall James Hillman and Danny Heath into the starting eleven. Andy Ray moved to left back, while his place in attack was taken by Matt.
Golden Cup took an early lead on 14 minutes with a well-taken goal. Within 10 minutes their advantage doubled as they scored from a free-kick with an unchallenged header. Chaos took over in defence and before long we were 3 goals down as an unmarked player tapped home from almost on the goal-line. We managed not to concede during the final ten minutes of the half, but knew we would be in for a tough final 45 minutes.
The second half began with us again being totally over-run. A ball through the middle of our defence again caught us out as Golden Cup increased their lead to four. A cross from the left bounced off Danny Heath into his own net to make it five on 55. Before the hour mark arrived Golden Cup made it six with another goal straight through the middle of our defence.
At this point they began to ease up and allow us back into the game. This was further helped by one of their midfielders getting themselves sent-off for slapping Kev.
We managed to score a consolation goal 10 minutes from time. A free-kick from the left by Lee was diverted past their keeper by Myatt.
