Biography ::
Read about how Clea came to be...
Clea is the result of a major TV contest that started back in the
summer of 2002, called 'Popstars: The Rivals'. Thousands of
wannabes applied to gain the opportunity to sing and perform in order
to find that milestone in popstar success. Auditions were held
across the UK including London, Glasgow and Manchester and it was
famous record managers and producers: Pete Waterman and Louis Walsh
together with popstar and former Spice Girl, Geri Halliwell who
decided who should make it clear through the auditions to the live
shows and who should wave farewell to the glamour and the fame.
The live shows then followed on from the auditions after thousands
were reduced to a mere handful of 20: 10 boys and 10 girls. The
aim of Popstars: The Rivals was to create a boyband and a girlband.
The fortunate 20 who made it to the final gripping stages lived it out
Big Brother style in their own house rehearsing their songs in
preparation for the gruelling live shows. This time, although
judges Waterman, Walsh and Halliwell were on hand to compliment and
criticise, they could do no more to affect what was essentially the
public vote to decide who would make it through to the final bands.
On the girls side, the live shows saw Lynsey, Chloe, Emma, Aimee
and then Javine come out last on the public votes for staying in the
girls band. This meant that manager Louis Walsh who was intended
to be the girlband manager received his members: Cheryl, Kimberley,
Nadine, Nicola and Sarah to make up now successful band, Girls Aloud.
The band then moved onto compete for the Christmas No.1 against the
formulated boyband, One True Voice, managed by other judge, Pete
Waterman, and composed of winning contestants and new members: Anton,
Daniel, Jamie, Keith and Matt. They succeeded in surpassing the
boys on the charts with 'Sound Of the Underground' and they have gone
onto release another single, 'No Good Advice', together with an album,
'Sound Of The Underground'. One True Voice have released their
debut 'Sacred Trust/After You're Gone I'll Still Be Loving You' and
another single, 'Shakespeare's (Way With) Words' but only recently,
Daniel left the band to pursue solo work with the rest of the group
vowing to continue.
In the meantime, Javine, one of the losing contestants managed to
sign up a record deal and launch her own solo career. She's only
recently released a brilliant single called 'Real Things' polished
with a real R'n'B edge.
This leaves the other losing girls: Chloe, Lynsey, Emma and Aimee.
Losing wasn't going to stop them from forming a new band and this
they've exactly done! Calling themselves 'CLEA' taking the
initials of each of their first names, the four girls are set to storm
the charts and become a credible band of today. They will
commence their career in the pop world when they release their
exciting debut single, 'Download It'. Described as a tune which
runs along similar lines as tunes from the Sugababes, this new single
is going to be a real treat and show what Clea can really offer.
Now the shining talents of Chloe, Lynsey, Emma and Aimee can be made
to shine in all its glory through Clea.
