aimee's choice of man and happy being
single...
6/9/2003, 3:30pm BST
Speaking to Popworld, Aimee talked of what she would look for in her
ideal partner. She said: "Real lads who are down to earth!
I like good-looking lads, obviously. Justin Timberlake is a bit
of alright personality means a lot. If I meet a gorgeous lad but
his personality is crap, then I'll be totally put off. I've met
lads in the past who have been really good looking and then I get
talking to them and think, 'you talk too much yourself,' and that's
just boring." However, Aimee mentioned that she isn't in search
of any date at this moment: "At the moment I'm not looking. I'm
quite happy being single!"

fast food rocker crush on aimee

It's reported that Martin from the recently formed group, Fast Food
Rockers (pictured) fancies Clea's Aimee. The trio came out with the tune,
'Fast Food Song' in July 2003. Martin has his eyes for Aimee but
hasn't the courage to tell her of his crush on her: "I saw her at a
party recently and was so stunned by her beauty that I just couldn't
go up and speak to her. But she's stunning. Absolutely
stunning!"

Chloe describes of how she was not so pretty when she was younger and
hence never attracted any of the boys. Chloe matched her
situation to the classic story of 'The Ugly Duckling' saying: "I was
an ugly duckling. I like to think I've developed into a swan.
All those boys at school had their chance, but they missed it!"

unlike liberty x
7/8/2003, 6:05pm BST
Clea have made
it clear that although they like to be compared to successful band,
Liberty X (pictured), they are nevertheless a completely different
band. Like Clea, Liberty X was formed by members who failed to
qualify for a winning position in the Popstars show. However,
Aimee described how Clea's debut single was to make them unique.
Speaking to TOTP magazine, she said: "At the beginning, everyone came
up to us and said we'd be the next Liberty X and to be compared to
them is cool, but our sound is very unique. The first single is
quite epic. It's got a lot of string backing. It's a kind
of pop, R'n'B sound, but quite different to Girls Aloud." The
first Clea single Aimee's described is the excellent 'Download It'
which will be released on the 15th September 2003! You
can hear a preview of this new song and even watch the brilliant promo
vid at the
Official Clea Website. Screenshots from the promo vid can be

popstars girls make new band
30/6/2003, 1:10pm BST
Most of the girls from the show, 'Popstars - The Rivals' who did not
make it into Girls Aloud have decided to formulate their own band.
Composed of Lynsey Brown, Chloe Staines, Emma Beard and Aimee Kearsley,
the new band have decided to call themselves, 'CLEA' taking the
initials of each of their names: Chloe, Lynsey, Emma and Aimee.
New material from this new band could be due any time soon. This
follows on from the announcement that the rejected boys from the
Popstars series have also come together to produce their own band
called 'Phixx'. Members: Andrew Kinlochan, Chris Park, Mikey
Green, Nikk Mager and Peter Smith have been signed up by the same
record management team that have been involved with Liberty X.
Interestingly, Liberty X also comprised members who hadn't survived
the onslaught of public evictions on the first Popstars series but yet
decided to come together to form their own band. The only other
losing contestant, Javine Hylton who was the last girl on Popstars -
The Rivals to miss out on Girls Aloud has already signed a record deal
and is expected to be heading a solo singing career with new material
from her due.

lynsey to join phixx boys
20/4/2003, 6:15pm BST
One of the girls to have missed being in the band Girls Aloud formed
from the 'Popstars - The Rivals' series is set to team up with the
rejected boys of the same TV series in a new band called Phixx.
Lynsey Brown was the first of the ten female finalists to face
eviction failing to qualify for a place in the new girlband managed by
Louis Walsh. She will join Andrew Kinlochan, Chris Park, Mikey
Green, Nikk Mager and Peter Smith in the new band which only a few
days ago announced its creation. Lynsey's chance to bathe in the
limelight of fame comes after her disappointment over the cancellation
of the Popstars - The Rivals concerts, earlier this year. The
concerts were expected to see all twenty finalists perform once again
including the losing finalists as well as winning bands, Girls Aloud
and One True Voice. Lynsey was expected to have performed solo
parts including the Aretha Franklin song, 'Natural Woman'.

new road for reject popstars
17/4/2003, 10:07am BST
Determined to cast off rejection, the Popstars - The Rivals boy
finalists who didn't make it into Pete Waterman's band, One True Voice
have decided to form their own. Yesterday, The Sun newspaper
reported that losing finalists: Andrew Kinlochan, Chris Park, Mikey
Green, Nikk Mager and Peter Smith have regrouped to become a new band
going by the name of 'Phixx'. They have been signed up by a
record management team who incidentally signed up Liberty X, another
band formed from losing Popstars finalists but one which has
superseded the original Popstars winning band, Hear'Say, to become
effectively more successful than them. Phixx are close to
getting a record deal and moe details are expected on the music
they'll be offering.

javine sees
good side
5/12/2002, 6:00pm GMT
Javine Hylton who was the last girl to be voted off Popstars: The
Rivals and the newly-formed girl band, Girls Aloud said that the
result was "A blessing in disguise". Javine described that she
could now be herself and "Do what I want" and was "...not going to
complain". On speaking to The Mirror Javine said: "I think
people are expecting me to be really, really down but I'm not.
I'm going to work hard and I can do whatever I want to musically and
look the way I want to look." She also revealed that she has had
many offers to become a solo artist.

manager walsh rejects flawed voting
4/12/2002, 11:00am GMT
 Louis
Walsh, manager for Girls Aloud expressed his rejection of any faults
with Saturday night's voting system on the girls' final of Popstars:
The Rivals. It was claimed that Javine Hylton's departure was
the result of difficulties in voting which many callers said prevented
them from voting Javine. Many callers complained that when they
rang up the vote number for Javine they were told thank you for voting
for Sarah Harding to whom Javine lost out . Walsh said: "There
was nothing rigged, definitely nothing rigged as far as I know.
They've checked everything out and I don't think there's anything
sinister at all. I don't think anything went wrong." He
reasoned as to why the result may have stood at what it is: "I think
kids are watching so many of these shows now that they don't vote for
the person they like most; they vote for the person that they think
'Oh I feel sorry for her. So I'm going to vote for Cheryl.
I'm going to vote for Sarah., I'm going to vote for Kimberley."
Walsh also described Javine's response when he met up with her: " I
talked to Javine yesterday. She's quite happy and she's going to
have a big solo career. I know a lot of record companies are
already interested in her." On the suggestion of Louis Walsh
taking on Javine as a solo artist he said it would not be an option
because she was very like another music artist he manages, solo,
Samantha Mumba (pictured left).

rejection
of all voting flaws
3/12/2002, 5:00pm GMT
Investigations in allegations that the phone voting system
employed on the girls' final of Popstars: The Rivals was flawed have
rejected any such possibility. The accusations initially
surfaced when a radio station received a large amount of calls from
people who claimed that they were unable to vote for Javine Hylton
(pictured) who was voted out on the night against Sarah Harding.
London's Capital FM radio station received calls from over 50 people
addressing the very complaint. News editor for the station,
Justin King spoke of the situation: "The presenter was talking about
Popstars when he started receiving calls from listeners saying they
had dialled the number to vote for Javine but heard a recorded message
saying thank you for voting for Sarah. Some people said they had
tried again and again stoking up votes for Sarah. More and more
people then called in to the show reporting the same problem."
Listeners were reported as having expressed their surprise at the
results. One caller said "The result was astonishing because
Javine had been a favourite all the way through the series. Even
the judges were stunned that she didn't make it into the band."
Another caller described of the problem they claimed they encountered
with voting: "I saw that Sarah and Javine were the last two and I
thought 'This can't be for real. I must vote for Javine'.
I picked up the phone and dialled the number and got a busy line.
I tried again and when I got through it said thank you for voting for
Sarah. I thought 'Oh no. I don't want to vote for Sarah'
so I waited for the number to come up on screen and tried again and it
said 'you have dialled the wrong number'." Sarah's own response
to the allegations on speaking in a radio interview was: "I don't
think there could have been a fix or anything like that. I don't
know anything about the phone business. What's done is done now
and I will just take it as it comes. At the end of the day I am
living my dream." All parties involved in the voting were
satisfied that nothing untoward occurred with the voting system.
Amanda Richardson representing O2 which provided the text messaging
voting system said they were confident the results were correct
stating: "A thorough investigation has been conducted and no problems
have been found in the way votes were counted. There were some
problems with the confirmations sent out to customers but these had no
effect on the results of the vote." Red Fig which provided the
phone voting system were adamant no fault was evident with the voting.
Spokesperson for the company, Heidi Scrimgeour said: "The confirmation
messages were correct for each number at all times when they were
dialled. Throughout the show last night [30th November 2002]
Sarah was ahead of Javine and the text message result mirrored the
phone call votes." Javine's response on speaking after the final
was: "I know that I gave 250%. What else could I do? I was
really happy with the way I sang."

a night for javine and girls aloud
30/11/2002, 11:00pm GMT
Tonight saw Popstars: The Rivals come to its nailbiting
climax with the girls' final. After a set of amazing
performances from all of the girls the public were left to vote for
the final five to make it into the new band called Girls Aloud to be
led by Louis Walsh. The final results were announced by Davina
McCall with Cheryl taking her place as the first member of the new
band followed by Nicola then Nadine and then Kimberley. The last
two to remain behind and wait an anxious few minutes while a
commercial break took place were Sarah and Javine. Eventually
the result was announced and Sarah became Girls Aloud's fifth and
final member. A very emotional Girls Aloud comforted Javine who
accepted her defeat very well. Davina praised Javine: "Javine,
you've been a goddess. " Cheryl also praised Javine: "If the
girls do get the No.1 I think I'll have to watch out for the top spot"
pointing to Javine noting that she could become very successful in
future. Davina confirmed "Yeah, you'll have to watch out.
You'll get knocked off the top spot by Javine with her solo career".
Davina continued: "Javine, I know you've been a rock like Sarah said
to all the other girls and you are a star in your own right but you
don't need us to tell you that" with the audience cheering Javine
supportively. Of course, the newly formed Girls Aloud celebrated
their success but remained very emotional while Javine sang her song
for the final, 'I'm Every Woman'. Congratulations to the girls
of Girls Aloud and we wish Javine all the best for the future!

aimee is next to miss girlband
16/11/2002, 9:29pm GMT
It has been confirmed that Aimee Kearsley is the next girl contestant
to be voted out of 'Popstars - The Rivals'. The successor to 'Popstars'
aims to create a girl band and boy band by Christmas with record
managers, Louis Walsh and Pete Waterman managing these repsectively.
The youngest of the finalists, Aimee wept emotionally when presenter, Davina McCall announced she'd been voted out. One of the judges,
former Spice Girl, Geri Halliwell came on stage to comfort Aimee.
The battle for the chance to be in the girl band came down to Aimee
and fellow finalist, Cheryl Tweedy with Aimee missing out by a mere
handful 1,218 votes. Aimee had performed The Supremes' hit of
1966, 'You Keep Me Hanging On'.

double outing for chloe and emma
2/11/2002, 9:36pm GMT
It has been confirmed that both Chloe Staines and Emma Beard have been
voted out of the TV series 'Popstars - The Rivals'. The hit TV
show which aims to produce both a girl and a boy band by Christmas to
be managed by record managers: Louis Walsh and Pete Waterman
respectively saw its second most gruelling final take place tonight.
Chloe performed 'Rescue Me', a 1965 hit for singer, Fontella Bass
which received mixed responses from the judges. While Pete
Waterman was rather harsh of Chloe's performance: "Fontella Bass was
the original of that. You should never have attempted it," and
former Spice Girl, Geri Halliwell was a little bit more forgiving
saying: "I think Chloe has got all the va-va-voom, and that's
important. Normally though you need a large voice to sing that
song," Louis Walsh was very appreciating: "I thought Chloe did a
really good job. You rescued me." Emma sang the 1963 hit
for The Ronettes, 'Be My Baby' with judge Louis all praise for Emma:
"She's better than all of the Spice Girls. She's better than
Kylie Minogue. She's a young kid, she's great, give her a
chance." Pete was a bit more critical: "I think you have
improved dramatically on what we saw in the first week. I still
think you're struggling in this competition." Announcement of
the losing contestants took on a bit of a twist with presenter, Davina
McCall splitting the girls up in two groups and from each announcing
who'd go out. Both Chloe and Emma took the announcements as best
as they could. After the show Chloe accepted defeat well: "I'm
OK. I don't feel wonderful and all happy but at the end of the
day, that's how it's meant to be." Emma said: "I'm a bit shocked
because I think I performed really well tonight. I'm going to be
fine though. I'm going to come back. Whoever doesn't get
through - we're going to get a little group going." Louis Walsh
who is anticipating the management of the newly formed girl band in a
few weeks time spoke of his shock at the departure of Chloe and Emma
but felt confident they'd return to the music scene: "I don't think
they went wrong anywhere. Everyone was great tonight. This
is not the last we've heard of these girls [Chloe and Emma] though.
They're going to be in a big girl group, even if it's not this one.
They've got the attitude, the looks and the personality."

high heels disrupted performance
21/10/2002, 10:16pm BST
Former Popstars The Rivals finalist, Lynsey Brown has blamed the shoes
she wore at her live performance for making her feel on edge while she
performed 'All Around The World', a hit for Lisa Stansfield.
Lynsey came last in the public vote on the first of the girls' live
finals that took place on Saturday (19th October 2002). Speaking
to the Daily Star she said: "The shoes I was originally given were too
small, so I had to find another pair quickly. Javine was
standing nearby and she said I could borrow hers. Unfortunately,
she takes a size eight and I take a size five. I stuffed them
full of toilet paper and headed for the stage. But I didn't feel
at all comfortable and I kept worrying I was going to do a Naomi
Campbell and fall flat on my face!" After her performance
fiancé, Anthony Grundy or 'Tosh' helped comfort Lynsey and girl pop
band, Atomic Kitten helped to try to resolve of Lynsey's
disappointments: "Tosh has been a real comfort. After our
performance, Atomic Kitten sent us a crate of champagne, which helped
a lot too." Top

lynsey is first to miss out on band
19/10/2002, 10:24pm BST
It has been confirmed that Lynsey Brown, one of the ten girl finalists
on the TV series, 'Popstars - The Rivals' has been voted out for a
chance to be in the eventual girl band to be managed by Westlife and
Ronan Keating record manager, Louis Walsh. She received the
fewest number of votes tonight after giving her performance of 'Been
Around The World', a 1989 hit for Lisa Stansfield. It was an
emotional night for all the other girls who had performed, to see
Lynsey go, and especially for the fact she was first to face the nasty
reality of the public vote.
